We don't have one .
To get one we wd have to affect the look of the kitchen as we can't buy integrated as kitchen door s wdnt match as our kitchen is not a current design .
Expense .
Lose a cupboard .
Is it worth it / a life changer ?? 😄

Gino they're on wheels so you roll it over to the sink. There are two hoses that come out the back that are connected to a coupler that you attach to your kitchen faucet. You attach the hose coupler, turn on your faucet and start the dishwasher. One hose fills the dishwasher, and the dirty water drains from the other into the sink. When you're done, detach and roll away. Easy peasy.

I've had mine for 19 years with no problems (knock wood).

Yes, yes, yes. I bought one last year, use it practically every day and wish I'd bought it a decade earlier. Saves tons of time and arguments (I quickly accepted I'll be the one doing the loading/unloading so I can't grumble) and gives my kitchen an "instant" clean as most mess normally dirty dishes. I got the cheapest Bosch and stock up on Fairy tabs at Costco every six months. It's wonderful. If it broke, I'd replace it immediately.

Where would I get the hinges from if I buy an integrated one , for my cupboard door? Xmas Blush

CharmingChampignon · 22/12/2015 08:11

We call ours 'the magic cupboard'!!

DH works away most of the time and I cannot cope with trying to get the kitchen sorted while the kids trash somewhere else at bedtime, so I put literally everything from dinner in ours and run each evening. It's brilliant and I couldn't be without it!

Archer26 · 22/12/2015 08:22

Best. Thing. Ever.

We had one when we moved in to our house and it broke a few months later just before Xmas. I begged my parents and husband to club together and get me one as a Xmas present as I knew I could not live without it.

Ours goes on most days Blush In our defence since the arrival of DS we have bottles to wash. Before him it went on probably every other day.

Heads up, if you argued over who did the washing up, you will now argue over who empties the dishwasher!

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/12/2015 08:31

Bah

The cupboard door fits directly onto the dw, they supply the fittings.

It's an utter cunt of a job though. Ours took us all day and many viewings of the YouTube tutorial off the Miele channel on there.

ginorwine · 22/12/2015 08:38

I'm loosing a cupboard for mine .could i use the door and buy and integrated machine ? Are they more shallow so thAt a door goes on top ? I've had two plumbers round for estimates and both recomend just a dishwasher . I don't know if this is to avoid a tricky job or if it is poss to use your own kitchen cupboard door as if I buy an integrated machine with its own door the door will not match my kitchen as it's no longer made ?

We bought a semi integrated one, we cut the door down on a circular saw.

Plumbing it in is the easy part.

Lweji · 22/12/2015 08:43

Integrated dishwashers are more expensive.
A normal door wouldn't quite fit. Doors for integrated dishwashers have the handles on top to pull down, rather than on the side, as normal doors.

e1y1 · 23/12/2015 11:55

Yes! Would NEVER be without one.

Pretty much always had one, even when lived at home with parents.

Didnt have one this year, for 3 months when moving house. Worst 3 months of my life.

We just moved this week and new house doesn't have one and we need to wait to get a plumber out to install new one and I'm climbing the walls without one. I want to cry every day after every meal. My nails are wrecked already from washing up.

I cannot wait til we get one installed.

rabbit123 · 24/12/2015 14:20

In a word...yes! Absolutely wouldn't be without one. Plus, modern dishwashers are more hygenic and more economical than hand washing.

GiraffesAndButterflies · 24/12/2015 16:51

I wouldn't care if I had a beautiful kitchen and an ugly dishwasher. It beautifies the kitchen enough by making everything clean Grin

HarlettOScara · 24/12/2015 17:03

I love my dishwasher. It's whirring away now with a load of dishes and pots from my day of Christmas dinner prep.

They are not all created equal though. I recently lived house and the kitchen of the 'new' place came with a semi-integrated Bosch dishwasher and it really is the king of dishwashers. Where previous models I've owned would sometimes fail to clean everything properly, this one gets everything sparkling every single time.

fuzzywuzzy · 24/12/2015 17:05

I think it is.

My Sister has one and I love helping her clear up after dinner parties.... It involves not doing much at all in contrast to my place, where I spend hours washing up.

Get one.

suestew123 · 30/12/2015 18:24

absobloodylutely. I had one when i was single and used it all the time and me and hubbie insist on having one. a few years back we rented for a while and there wasn't the room and we hated washing up. Once you have one you never want to be without one. it doesn't matter if you don't fill it up straight away just wait until you do. Plus you do have to hand wash the odd bit but so what. well worth it, and definitely a life changer.

Get one that has a quick wash on it, I don't see the point in washing things for 2-3 hours, can do the job in 15-30 just as well.

:-)

bimandbam · 30/12/2015 18:34

I think I need a dishwasher in my life.

Does anyone know roughly how much it costs to have a cupboard convertes to take one? I currently have a bin cupboard I would happily lose for dishwasher. It's next to the sink and washing machine so assume it's a suitable place. It's not a full size cupboard though but there is a full sizr cupboard on the same wall.

Whatsername24 · 30/12/2015 18:42

Couldn't be without mine! You may need extra crockery, cutlery etc though because you're obviously not hand washing them through the day to reuse.

Thanks to a tip in a Christmas thread on here, I even used mine to warm the plates for Christmas dinner this year by putting it on a quick wash which would finish in time for dinner to be served.

My husband really moans about having to empty it though (the only job he does around the house) but he'd moan more about having to wash up by hand!

e1y1 · 30/12/2015 18:42

If you got someone who is handy in the family, it shouldnt cost that much if anything.

However, if you don't, post an ad for a handyman/carpentry type service to see what offers come in.

bimandbam · 30/12/2015 18:46

Thanks e1. Dp is a buildee so should technically be able to do it then.

However. In the interest of continuing in a relationship with him.and having had several fall outs assembling flat pack over the years I think my brother who is a joiner would probably be a better bet!

Whatsername24 · 30/12/2015 18:47

bimandbam we moved into a new build and the kitchen had been fitted so that a cupboard next to the sink could be easily removed to fit a dishwasher into the space. It took my husband no time at all to remove it, might be worth checking to see how your cupboard is fitted in before going to the unnecessary expense of getting someone in to do it.

JasperDamerel · 30/12/2015 18:50

I love mine. It has saved me at least an hour a day, and the eczema on my wrists has cleared up.

bimandbam · 31/12/2015 07:35

Thanks whatsername. Will get dps mate up to have a look. House is a few year's old but can't see that any of the cupboards actually come out. His mate is a kitchen fitter so should be able to do it easily enough.

Probably cost a couple of pints!

TheRadiantAerynSun · 31/12/2015 07:42

We have the world's smallest kitchen, but the first thing I did when I moved here was rip out one of the bottom cupboards and put in a dishwasher. It's only a slimline, but it's the difference between bliss and divorce.
