Wooden Venetian blinds, bath of hot soapy water. Should I?.

They are in a kitchen and now smell of bacon.

I'm fed up of cleaning them by wiping each slat and the one over the kitchen window is difficult to reach.

They are basewood if it matters.

They'll warp I'd say.

also it will scratch the bath.

I have saved dh's old massive bath towels and I could line the bath with them.

I've done this several times with my B&Q wood venetians, and it was fine. Warm water not hot to avoid warping, let the blinds drop to full length, wipe the slats with a cloth individually, then rinse off with shower. I used flash, or stardrops. I don't leave them to soak for hours, but swish and wipe for long enough to get super clean. Good luck! Smile

I put them onto towels on the floor to rub dry afterwards - didn't put towels in bath tho, no need.

Good luck. I have large plastic venetian blinds coming down in the next few weeks and I'm going to take the opportunity to clean them before they go back up. Luckily, I have a large concrete expanse at the back of the house so I think it's going to have to be a 'spread out on the concrete, get out the Flash and the mop and finish off with watering cans of water' job. How they'll dry in this weather is a matter for prayerful speculation though.
