For 30 mins and I've got 5 bin bags.

A couple things I felt bad about ... So I extra thanked them.

This is so fun ! I've wanted to minimalise forever.

Marie kondo asks us to ask two questions of each item actually. 'Does it bring me joy?' And'is it useful'. The second bit can be a bit fuzzy. However I've always asked myself 'is it really useful right now? Will it be used or will it sit around'

This is a great article about just that.

Love that sally especially "I sure as shit don't want to clean it all" Grin

I've Kondo'd my wardrobe. I took a slightly liberal approach to joy - eg throwing out my work uniform would cause me the opposite of joy when it came to getting ready for work, my ski jacket isn't beautiful but the warmth it brings on cold days is joyous. I've gone from a double and single wardrobe all rammed to a non-rammed double wardrobe.

Funnily enough almost all my nice shoes survived the purge :)

Well done! It's ace isn't it!

As a natural sceptic I read the book fully prepared to scoff - and was totally hooked.
I've done all my clothes, the glory hole airing cupboard, two large dressers and the kitchen is next. 27 bags to charity shop and not a single regret. Everything's tidy, folded as she says, and deciding what to wear is a doddle. I even have 4 empty drawers and no urge to fill them up - instead of buying yet more storage you streamline instead.

Makes me very happy and I swear my stress levels have dropped since I did it.

So far I have changed my bedroom, my son's, the kitchen and the front room around. I got rid of odd bits and bobs yesterday that were just lurking in places, and have another pile of stuff that I've just kept for the sake of it! I've done all the kitchen cupboards and even just sorting out underneath the sink was a change; I've stashed all the carrier bags into one reusable bag and the reusable bags into another and realised the thing I wanted to get for storing carrier bags I no longer need! It's weird how everything looks so much more "in place" now.

And... Why has the grey OP gone, or is it just me? It's confusing.

I thought that she was pregnant?

MadGrumblyGnome · 23/10/2015 13:01

I kondoed a load of books today. DH refused to get rid of lots that definitely do not spark joy for me which was mildly frustrating but either way, the bookcase looks a whole lot better.

It is soooo satisfying. Smile

You catagorise everything (tops, bottoms), hold each peice and see if you can feel joy.

I have read the book and doing it all by the letter.

And if you decide to discard an item, remember to thank it for its service before it goes.in the bin liner.
