Fed up with streaks on glasses in the dishwasher - any tips?

My glasses always go cloudy and streaky in the dishwasher. I know this is likely to be our limescale-y water - we live in an area with high limescale - and I don't know how to prevent them. I've googled, and always make sure the salt dispenser has plenty of salt, I've set the dishwasher's water softening system according to the water company's published hardness of water, we even use 5-in-1 tablets so there is even an extra dose of salt.

What more can I do? Am I doomed to wash them up by hand?! The dishwasher instructions mention dishwasher-proof glasses - do they really work?

Got masses of rinse aid in the dispenser! And using the tablets which include rinse aid!

Dishwasher salt. Make sure it's topped up

Whoops posted before I was finished. Apparently if the glasses are not streaky when dipped in vinegar, the water softening system isn't working.

Salt definitely topped up. Might need a dishwasher engineer then?

Are you washing above 50c? if so the heats cracking the glaze on the glass and the glass is getting etched.

Wash on 40c if you can.

Wash you naice glasses by hand, and throw out your cheap tumblers every six months or when you get fed up with them.

Fluffy - I almost always use the 'Eco 50 degrees' setting - there is one which says it's 45 degrees but has a pic of cups next to it. Maybe i should try that - I don't usually put concrearted-on lasagne pans in, just plates, bowls, cups, glasses, cutlery.

Piglet - this is depressing me if even you don't have a magical solution to this! Is there really nothing I can do?! Maybe get a water softener for the whole house... Or one of those magnetic things you attach to a pipe and apparently it softens your water...We do indeed wash up wine glasses by hand , but I really can't be bothered to hand wash all the day-to-day tumblers. Hm. They are only about 1p from IKEA I suppose, although I have a bit of an aversion to throwing things unless I really have to....

I have a water softener, and glasses still go bloomy or cloudy. My commercial premises have a glass-washer used with a softener and mild glass-washing detergent, and they still go patchy.

Magnetic devices are as effective as anti-rheumatism copper bracelets, and work in the same way (on your mind).

When our dishwasher turned our glasses streaky and cloudy I checked the salt levels and rinse aid. All fine. I then used one of those dishwasher cleaners and it solved the problem! This is despite me doing this on a 2 monthly clean anyway

What tablets do you use? We live in a very hard water area and Finish/Fairy ruined our glasses, but the new glassed still look beautiful since we switched to Lidl and ALDI own brand all in one tabs. Rinse aid is also Lidl. Would never go back to the 'named' brands.

All glasses go cloudy after a few years. I only buy cheap IKEA ones and replace every 3-4 years. Life is too short to hand wash them. Only the posh wine glasses get hand washed they don't fit in the dishwasher

I think it's the glasses as opposed to the dishwasher. Some glass naturally goes streaky and cloudy after a while.

I use Finish (get it on offer). No Aldi or Lidl in town or that nearby, but that's good to know - maybe I'll see if my mum can get their own brands as she does have them near her. Also do a maintenance wash regularkly, but with soda crystals, not a special potion for dishwashers. Looks like I just need to resign myself to it and buy cheap glasses regularly though!
