Other than opening windows - which I will do but it is soooooo cold!
I have a couple of candles lit and the extractor on so far. Thanks.

Open windows, chefs candles, wipe down your cooker and kitchen- I love the grapefruit method cleaner. You can also boil a pan of water with some cinnamon sticks or lemons added.

If you have an extractor hood, a big help is to put it on high speed before you start cooking. Too late this time, sorry.

It may help to wash down all surfaces, including tops of cupboards and top of hood, with Flash or similar, if you were frying and the fatty haze may have settled.

clean the surfaces and wash up the pans.
and air the room, maybe open window as far as can go for a few min every hour so it doesn't get too cold

Cook a kipper in the microwave - that'll sort it.

Seriously, you need to wash down all surfaces to get rid of fats/spices that have settled, mop the floor, and open all the windows so that any soft furnishings (dining chairs, curtains, blinds?) get a good airing.

Agree with the washing down of all surfaces and leaving the windows open for as long as possible

Am I weird, because I love it when my house smells of nice food?

mousmous · 26/02/2015 10:49

freshly cooked food, yes. even breakfast bacon
but not the lingering 'used fat' smell.

Price's Chefs Candles are v good at getting rid of smells. I always make sure other doors (to other rooms are closed).
