just ate the braised steak i cooked in my slow cooker as per meal plan!

Cleaned the bathroom today, so i am ready to tackle the boys bedroom again....

jas your after pic is great; nice shiny floor!

i use my slow cooker loads; mostly beef stew type stuff, but also to cook a gammon joint, or a shoulder of lamb. Chicken cooks really well too; esp as a curry as the flavours really soak in.

Jas - next time cook your lentils seperately on hob, then chuck them in the slow cooker with whatever else.

Hi all. I have read back today, there is only 28 post today. No tortoise posts today yet. I hope she is ok though. Looks like there has been some good FLYing done today.
I lost the net lastnight and I could not log back in Then this am I came down to a soggy wet lounge floor. The radiator was leaking. I got DC into the kitchen and then turned off the taps going to the radiator which stopped the leak. I got DSs ready for school and they went off to school on the bus.
I went to phone the landlord, only to find that my phone was not working. We have no phone box here so I went nextdoor to ask if I could use hers. She was great, she had DD for me while I used her phone. I phoned BT too about my phone. They checked and said they would send some one out. The landlady came out and looked and then went away and said she would sort it out.
I then had a plumber turn up with a new radiator and fixed it in. So that was sorted. But I still had a soggy wet carpet to deal with. I phoned the landlady up again. (nextdoors phone as no one from BT yet). The landlady told me that the carpet was down to me to sort. To say I got upset was an understatement. My nextdoor neighbour took the phone and had a go at the landlady. (she is her landlady too) and told her that she should sort it as it was not my fault that there was a leak.
Well to cut a long story short, she sent out a carpet cleaner thingy for me to use and she was paying for it. So I have spent the afternoon (from 11:30am) getting all the water from the carpet and cleaning it. Nextdoor helped me aswell, I dont know how I would have done it if it was not for her help. She even cooked tea for us.
BT came at 5:30 and fixed the phone, a wire had broke outside. so it was their problem , so least I dont have to pay for that.

I have towels all over the lounge carpet so we can still be in our lounge. (yes nextdoor helped with those too.)

DC to bed soon then I will sort out the washing and do so ironing. Dont really feel like doing anymore but it needs to be done.

I will go out tomorrow and get something for our great nextdoor neighbour for all her help. I just dont know what to get though.

So a question for all now

If you were my nextdoor neighbour and you helped me out so much today, What would you be happy with as a thankyou so very much pressie?

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 17/10/2006 19:05

oops, I did not think I typed that much

jasnDISMemBERED · 17/10/2006 19:27

What a lovely neighbour.
Does she like flowers, or a plant (lasts longer for the same money)?
Wine?

sahmtotwo · 17/10/2006 19:41

What a fantastic neighbour. I think a trip to Aldi/Lidl and a bottle of their finest wine with maybe a bunch of flowers as well.

I've had a awful day with some high points but it's too long to go into, needless to say all I've done today is the basics to keep things ticking along. Am just sitting down to my dinner. So I am just gonna sit on the sofa and slob tonight.

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 17/10/2006 19:57

Yes she has been a lovely/fantastic neighbour. I have not seen very much of her until today. Just the odd hi and how things are with the weather really.
I think its going to be a pot plant and a good bottle of wine for her. Maybe a box of chocolates from the DC. All three have something to give her then. Oh and a good thankyou card too!

Just DS1 to get to bed now. and thats in a few minutes

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 17/10/2006 20:01

sahmtotwo, sorry that you have had an awful day too {{{{{ sahmtotwo }}}}}

My high points for today were my neighbours great help and DD being sooooo good today Even DSs were good too. They must have now that mummy was not in a great mood today

I will get them a treat too for being good

sahmtotwo Sorry you had a bad day.

TortUREoiseChamber · 17/10/2006 20:57

Check out this spider that i made tonight!
What do you think?

Apronscreams · 17/10/2006 21:02

don't know if anyone else will be on here by this time. I am in america so 5 hours behind you. Bathrooms got a quick once over - were pretty good after yesterday. Started on the bedroom cupboards, DH and me.

Told DH about the fly yesterday, he said it had put me in a really good mood - but he wondered what would happen when I'd thrown out and cleaned everything!!!

TortUREoiseChamber · 17/10/2006 21:06

Hi Apronscreams.
Im here. Now i am everyone else has buggered off!!!
Must be nice to have DH helping you. Once its decluttered then the detailed cleaning lists are used in the zone each week!

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 17/10/2006 21:35

Hi Apronscreams. FLYing never stops so there is always something to be cleaning etc . Glad you have a DH that will help you.

Ruby, A great idea about getting DC to make a thankyou card

I like the spider tortoise. DC help?
I was FLYing so not really buggered off

I have done my ironing now and just need to put it all alway. Its upstairs at mo in my room.

It still smells in here of radiator water. Looks like I will be cleaning the carpet again tomorrow, Just dont know what the best cleaner to use though to help get rid of that yuk smell.
I was going to go to mother and toddlers tomorrow too

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 17/10/2006 21:52

Tortoise, are you still on MSN?

TortUREoiseChamber · 17/10/2006 22:01

Yes still on MSN. Not signed in at the moment!
I made the spider by my self! DC were trying to guess what i was doing!! Need to find a way to hang it by the door for the party!

jasnDISMemBERED · 17/10/2006 22:13

I love the spider!

No flying here still. I've been wrapping presents (nephews b.day/christmas, and friends new baby)
Sink is full of washing up
I will try and do it before bed, and get back into action tomorrow.

Apronscreams · 17/10/2006 22:25

just re read my post - because I wondered why everyone thought dh had helped - i was not very articulate should have saaid I started cleaning dh's cupboard and then my cupboard.

Dh said - this looks all different - i fear change!

TortUREoiseChamber · 17/10/2006 22:27

LOL apron! Well i thought it might be too good to be true!

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 17/10/2006 22:27

Just done the night time work. All ready for the start of another day.

LOL with your spider tortiose, did they guess?
I dont know how you can put him on the door. Those map pins thingys might hold him up?

Jas, wraping is a sort of FLYing. A job that someone has to do.

TortUREoiseChamber · 17/10/2006 22:30

Map pins?? I will have to get some string and tie it up! Might make another one tomorrow. They did guess eventually!

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 17/10/2006 22:33

Yes it is lol tortoise. I was going to add to my post about it, that Apronscreams DH should tell some DHs/DPs to help on here. looks like hes just like some on here. lol

You need to get him FLYing his own stuff Apronscreams. There are bits about doing sheds and tool boxes.

The likes of tortoise and myeslf have to do that bit too though

theHAUNTEDhazelnut · 17/10/2006 22:45

yeah. they look like drawing pins but they have a look a like a MSN person on them without the arms and a flat head.

That will be cool with 2 spiders You could have 1 hanging from the light

sahmtotwo · 17/10/2006 23:28

Good night ladies.I'm off to do my night time routines and then tuck myself up in bed.

I have to say since I've been flying DH has been better about helping around the house keeping things ticking over.

I have a hospital appointment tomorrow morning but hopefully will get a chance to do some flying in the afternoon.

Oh! and nice spider btw!!
