Are electric ones better? Anything in particular I should look out for?

people say that the burr grinders are better than the ones with whirling knives (like a blender) which try to cut up the beans.

I have only ever had electric ones with the knives, so I can't say. I do however have a manual grinder, wooden with a turney handle, that smells delicious when fresh-ground. You might be able to trick people into hand-grinding for fun. It is a bit slow.

I recently got an electric deLonghi, it is more than twice the size of the electric Krupps grinder but looks similar in the pics if you buy online. Both are in the region of £22. I think the smaller one would be more convenient.

Thank you, I'll have a look at those.

I have a Krupp's one with little knives I use for grinding spices. It is ace.
