DH work shirts - who irons them? or do you make him buy non-iron ones?

Non-iron ones here. Can't think of any reason not to but maybe you disagree?

have never ironed dh's shirts!

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 05/10/2006 18:10

Still can't imagine needing to actually iron school uniforms unless I'd not been in to grab them from the machine and hang them straightaway.

mothersruin · 05/10/2006 18:16

dh does all the ironing.
however this apparently gives him licence to do FA else

marymillington · 05/10/2006 18:23

i do them for him
its my only nod to domesticity

iota · 05/10/2006 18:30

I'm a SAHM with 2 kids in school....

.....and we send dh's shirts out to be ironed by an ironing service

TheBlonde · 05/10/2006 18:34

Nothing get ironed in theblonde household
All items are hung appropriately straight out of the machine

I have ironed a dress once in the 2.5 years we have lived here

Piffle · 05/10/2006 18:37

Dp works away he irons them sunday night, I prefer M+S easy care ones, if you timble dry they look fab and requite minimum ironing
I do all the otherironing but I iron Monday mornings, when he and all his shirts are away.

cece · 05/10/2006 18:40

In theory I iron DH's shirts

in practice DH irons them

Bozza · 05/10/2006 19:41

How do you manage to be around when the machine empties? And do you have appropriately drying things hung all over the house?

uh?

ne, iron dp's shirts?

I am a SAH MUM, not a SAH ^Skivvy"

Bozza · 05/10/2006 19:50

See when I worked full time I ironed all the shirts. But now I work part time and am a SAHM part time I iron some of them.

portonovo · 05/10/2006 20:21

We have to iron because a) we tend to have all-cotton shirts/blouses and b)we have a tumble drier but use it only very very rarely for financial and environmental reasons.

As to who does the shirt ironing - usually me because I'm 'at home' (and children all at school), but he's perfectly able to and happy to iron his and mine and anyone else's clothes!

In fact, we often share the ironing in front of a good film.

Weird thread - I never thought ironing was such an issue!

fridascruffs · 05/10/2006 20:50

i only ever ironed dp's short once. he was going to an interview and wanted to wear a shoirt that had been stuffed in a bag for about 3 years. I really wanted him to get the damn job...

IdrisTheDragon · 06/10/2006 07:06

We have given up on general ironing here and do it on a "need to wear" basis. So if DH finds he needs to wear a work shirt, then he irons it. And as he never gets ready gthe night before, it is always in the morning.
