Kärcher Window Vac - anybody have/use one?

This one here

Is it any good?

When I first saw the ad I thought it looked like the gadget did everything i.e. cleaning and vaccing, but no: you clean first, then vac the dirty water off the window pane.

Does it make a big difference to cleaning windows? I use a micro fibre cloth, followed by a squeegee and wipe the water that runs down as I go along, but would this change my life??

I am really considering it for DH who Likes A Gadget

I've got a small one (fnarr), just the basic window vac with no attachments. Spray, wipe over with microfibre sponge, vacuum up the residual water.

It's great, makes cleaning the windows easy and quick. Also very good for shower screens and granite worktops.

PacificDogwood · 09/10/2014 20:51

Ah, good to hear that it's small but perfectly formed - fnarr right back atcha Grin

Ok, that's a vote in favour, thank you.
Any disappointed window vaccers?

I love mine. We keep it in the bathroom and last person to shower in the morning rinses any bubbles/shampoo blobs off cubicle glass then vacuums the water away. Shower looks spotless for at least a week.

Bluecarrot · 09/10/2014 21:11

Actually I just counted it up. I haven't washed the glass or tiles for 3 weeks and shower still looks like it was just cleaned. All I have done is swipe the base with a cloth to get rid of soap scum.

Hollycopter · 09/10/2014 21:14

I have one and I use it daily in the bathroom. I love it. I can get away with scrubbing the bath and shower door about once every three weeks now instead of them looking constantly cloudy after every shower.

More fans - great! Thanks.
Never thought of bathroom use - we do live in an area of v soft water, but still...

We have condensation on our (old) windows in winter and this has been AMAZING at wiping it up every morning. Much less mould around seals.

nottheparrot · 10/10/2014 21:29

Just got ours yesterday, mainly for condensation. Used it this morning.
How did I ever live without it!

Got it from JL, ordered online, click and collect at Waitrose (£10 cashback till end of October).

nottheparrot · 10/10/2014 21:38

Should have added - mine is the WV50 one.

ChillySundays · 10/10/2014 22:57

DH loves his

Primrose123 · 10/10/2014 23:10

Yes, I've got one, it's the best gadget I ever bought.

Figureof80 · 10/10/2014 23:42

Love mine almost as much as my roomba. Windows sparkling in seconds.

CiderwithBuda · 10/10/2014 23:49

I bought one months ago. It gathered dust.

Then I actually used it this week. It's fab. My windows are spotless.

I wouldn't bother with the cleaning bits and bobs. I washed windows with water and a bit of washing up liquid and then vacuumed off the water. So easy and quick.

Wondered about using for shower. Will try that next!

TheSpottedZebra · 10/10/2014 23:58

There was a thread about this a while ago and I was wondering about buying one. Then i forgot.
And now the weather is changing and the condensation will soon be back... Hmm, do I need one.?

The vac thing is the same across all models, is that right? And the only difference is in accessories? Or have I got that all wrong?

Behoove · 11/10/2014 00:38

No, zebra size makes the difference. Ooer!
I bought the basic model which only has the small size rubber blade, the one the op linked to has the large rubber blade plus the smaller one as an attachment.

It's great btw, I don't think having a bigger one would have made much of a difference.

Aha, thanks, Behoove

Ruhrpott · 11/10/2014 19:47

I just got one from B&Q and applied for the £15 cashback which takes it to £45 for the WV60.

Davros · 12/10/2014 00:57

I like the look of it in the advert and am very tempted after reading about bathroom use BUT how do you use it to clean windows that are high up, 2nd and 3rd floor?

hollyisalovelyname · 12/10/2014 08:55

I found it useless and do my windows with water and a vileda window cloth.
I must be doing something wrong because everybody raves about them. For me it was a total waste of money.

Ruhrpott · 12/10/2014 09:13

Davros, you can buy an extension pole, but I can do mine outside from inside the room.

blahblahblah72 · 12/10/2014 16:25

I've got one and whilst it's great for when people kick over the dog's water bowl, I don't find it particularly amazing when it comes to cleaning the windows. It's good but not THAT good.

Davros · 12/10/2014 23:42

Thanks ruhrpot, I was imagining some leaning out. Can't see me doing that 3 floors up. It sounds useful around the house but need to find a bargain

DorothyGherkins · 12/10/2014 23:51

I love mine too, use washing up liquid with j cloth to get all the grunge off, might rinse with clean water if the surface was really filthy, then vac off. But once you are on top, it only takes a few seconds. Love it on shower screens, bathroom tiles, bathroom mirror, the fish aquarium, but mostly for my car windscreen! Great too for clearing condensation from car windows on moisty mornings.

AlwaysWashing · 13/10/2014 00:06

We have one for window cleaning and my parents have one for their bathroom - great bit of kit!
