radical dude!.....care of wetsuits, best way washing and storage?

I gave them a good shower down while we were on hols but they probably won't be used again for a while and I want them to last.

Shall I give them a soak in the bath, line dry to get the drips off then dry inside the house? I don't think that it won't do them much good to be left drying in the sunshine.

And they need to be stored hanging up don't they?

My serious wetsuit users hose them off well, and hang them in the garden to dry if I'm lucky and clutter up the conservatory roof bars if I'm not.

I guess out of full sun is best, especially if you have red or pink bits, but they are pretty tough.

Generally they then live hung up in a well ventilated shed or drapoed round the garage. They don't want folding tightly.

All the wet suits and dry suits in my house are lovingly cared for in my dining room! Mostly hanging over the backs of chairs or on clothes dryers!

As the wife of an obsessive scuba diver, I don't think they have to be stored hanging if it's difficult, but I do know where ever you do put them, they shoudn't be subjected to major temperature changes. So not in the loft, in the suitcases!

Dump really well in a bath of cold water, dry outside out of full sun and I store mine in a dark cupboard under the stairs closely hung over my body board.

That was seven years ago now..... Wetsuit is fine, my waistline not so much...

timeforabiscuit yes, I was thinking that even if my wetsuit lasts for a few years then I'd better make sure it still fits me!

dh soaks in cold water then rinses well with cold water. dry almost lying flat on an airer.
when dry it's stored lying flat between 2 large cotton towels in a binbag on top of the wardrobe. it's important at it doesn't touch plastic and doesn't get direct sunlight.

No way Maureen I have vast quantities of electical and computer stuff in every room of my house. Except when drying in the conservatory, diving kit remains outside!

Afraid so! It doesn't bother me. The house is big enough for the dining room not to be needed very often and when it is, he removes it all!

The diving dining room also houses the rest of the equipment needed for scuba diving. And that would be training at the swimming pool kit, open water summer kit and open water winter kit! Oh and DD does it too, so there's all of hers too!

My dinning room is required for craft, sewing, my computer, large piles of laundry and very occasionally eating.

He has a study, a workshop, a large garage and three sheds and despite this we have computer junk in the pantry and our bedroom. Dive kit stays out the house!
