Should we scotchguard our new carpet and sofa if we have kids?

Hi Guys - we haven't had kids yet but would like to do so in the near future. We have a new carpet and sofa coming it the next few weeks and I am debating whether it is worth getting it scotguarded (or something similar carpet protection wise).

As I don't know how carpets/sofas and kids fare I'd really appreciate your views on:

  • is it worth scotguarding either item?
  • did you do it yourself? or did it cost you much to do it?
  • what products and the best (especially if you are concerned about toxic content).

We have gone for a Victoria Carpets carbon heather (looks darker on the web that it does in our lounge) so hopefully the mid colour of the carpet with give us a fighting chance with stains in the future.

Any views appreciated thanks :)

If you have it done professionally, get a quote first (obviously), and be sure to ask how long it will last before it needs doing again. Then you can decide if it is worth it.

Just cover everything in polythene Wink

Yes definitely.

Get it done professionally. You will live to regret it if you don't.
