Scooba - can I use a general disinfectant like Zoroflora or Dettol?

We are thinking about getting a Scooba but want to make sure it's worth the money.

Looking at the pricey scooba fluid that it says you Need it makes me think it would be too expensive to run, on top of the huge outlay to start with.

But I don't see how a general disinfectant like Zoroflora or Dettol would do any harm? But not sure! It's a sort of deciding factor here!

John Lewis sell them so why don't you go in and ask about them - the staff there tend to be pretty knowledgeable ime. I just read the reviews and it seems a faff recharging between rooms, etc.

cause I know that technically you should use their products. so JL would probably say you have to otherwise they are going against the manufacturer advice. but just wondering if anyone has tried it. I can't see how it would make much difference. Confused

you can also use white vinegar instead and its so much cheaper than the enzyme solution . Anything else may damage the robot. Ive used white vinegar and it makes my kitchen floor very clean. The house does smell like a chippy though for a few hours afterwards its a case of open the windows before you start !!

Thanks. I don't really want it smelling of vinegar TBH. We plan to use it every day. So do you think if I were to put a bit of Zoroflora in it then it would be damaged? I just can't see how it would do any harm. But I don't want to ruin my Robot!

Can you compare the ingredients of the recommended stuff with Zoroflora , if it's virtually the same, then it should be fine.

I've ordered one bottle of the scooba stuff which should come today. Will have a look at ingredients etc and go from there :-)
