Talk me into buying a Roomba

or out of it. It's a lot of money at £380 minimum. I work full time, have 2 moulting dogs and 2 messy children, I need one, don't I?

Are the entry level ones any good or do you have to spend more?

That's what I was wondering about the Aldi one. I can't afford £300 on one but could see the benefit for £180

Lioninthesun - I paid £180 for mine. It's a irobot roomba 630 so not the cheap version. I got it off ebay second hand but hardly used. It works perfectly and can't fault it!

I know this is an oldish post, but everyone wants to know about the cheaper roombas, right?! It also has a mopping function (not as good as a scooba, basically pushes a damp cloth around) but I have never used it for that purpose.

Roombas are fantastic. I have got one recently for my 2 cavapoos and it does a great job for their hair and other light mess. If you want a deep clean forget it, doesn't work well for denser carpets or stickier mess. I also recommend giving it a name, Robert the Roomba has become a part of the family and the kids certainly love it! I have the 690 which is a pretty mid-range Roomba. I have done a bit of reading which suggests that the 960 and 980 do a deeper clean of carpets but I personally didn't bother as it doesn't do a fantastic job on them!
