That clockwise tip totally works.

When my kitchen is a tip (which it was today at the end of my childminding week) I try not to look at it. I just start from the left and do whatever is in front of me moving round teh room.

Then I go back to where I started with a spray and a cloth and then its done.

Takes far less time than toing and froing!

tortoise · 24/08/2006 21:07

my room!!
It has one good feature and a tiny amount of floor space!
Also pics of DD1 and DD2 caught cleaning for me.

tortoise · 24/08/2006 21:08

And the big box is no more! I stayed in the dark to finish the last bit!
Still a few soggy boxes down there for another day!

Heres a tip for you.

Empy something ie a bedside cabinet. Take everything out of it and off of it.

Now...............decide what actually belongs in there.

Maybe a lamp to read, a book to read, some tissues.

Now decide what is going to happen to the rest of the stuff you have removed.

This might not make much sense but if you start from scratch with a piece of furniture and decide what should actually be there its a way to get stuck in and make some quick progress. DYSWIM?

tortoise · 24/08/2006 21:49

Lol! She is rather gorgeous! She didn't want to stop cleaning the bath and sink!

Right

What I would do is this.

Pick an area, or mini zone in the bedroom.

Remove everything, decide what you love enough to earn a place on the furniture. (do you NEED it or LOVE it) if NO then THROW!!!

With everything else. Remove everything you KNOW has a place and put it in that place.

For everything else, it cant be that important/useful/beautiful - put it in a box/bag and if after ONE WEEK you havent hunted the bag for something sling the bag away.

domestickler · 24/08/2006 21:52

Dont feel torty!!

Would you like me to take a pic of my playroom to make you feel better?

Remember my gorgeous organised space I posted last week?......................

tortoise · 24/08/2006 21:53

Its very small! Mainly bedrooms.Would be ok for 2 kids ie room each but not for 2 kids in each and mine is the tiniest room ever! That floor space is lost when the door is open on it!

tortoise · 24/08/2006 21:55

The window sill is tidy though!

Tortoise - don't despair, my bedroom looks similar. And it's a decent size so you can imagine all the crap that must be there, I think i need to hire another skip.

tortoise · 24/08/2006 21:58

Im trying to think of moving house and packing it all to get my chucking things! Im hoping to move when court case is over(more so if boys come home)
So where do i store photos and little bits like that?

domestickler · 24/08/2006 21:59

messy playroom

The thing is....this is the only room in the house that this can happen too cos there is just soooo much stuff. If you get rid of most of your stuff it cant get messed. (in my bedroom i have bed, wardrobe drawers and laundry basket) chuck the rest

Your doing so well dont get disheartened

I don't really have the budget but I do have a cheap shop in town that has plastic boxes with lids.Might have a look in there.Good idea.

Loving the playroom!

DD2 just cried so i sorted her out then picked up bin, milk and drink bottles and brought them downstairs.
Bin now empty, milk bottle in dish washer and bottles in bag to take to bottle bank!
