My ironing cloth has melted to the iron- how can I clean the plate?

My 100% polyester ironing cloth has melted onto the plate of the iron, is there any way to clean it off easily or shall I admit defeat and buy a new iron and cloth?

Lakeland iron cleaner, tis about £8 but it's amazing
