Yesterday was a disaster in terms of hurting self getting from nearest (far) parking to building, only to discover it wasn’t necessary for me to have shown up an hour early in order to tear myself apart trying to do too much over inaccessible terrain, and still be ten mins late so I could wipe myself out from medication to let me stay in my wc continuously for 6 hours. (this is like marathon running for me)
There is actually a paid car park attached to the venue, and after the caretaker saw how much I’d injured myself getting there, and grabbed me (good man!) as I attempted to eat floor accidently tipping chair a second time, trying to get through over a floor obstacle on their automatic door of all things, in front of him, agreed I can park free there the rest of the course dates!
Right now I can’t move and am counting the cost of yesterday, but there was some point in going if only to discover something I know about myself but have been trying to block out, but need to acknowledge.
Hello to chippingnorton
list will get as long as the piece of paper, if you let them.
whoknows It’s not necessarily about them being untrustworthy. Often others fall into line because if someone else agreed they’re on safer ground. Our inspired and very brave yr 1 teacher went out on a limb, and fed up with every 20 min injuries, reported under ‘gross and fine motor skills’ on yr1 report: “X has none of the above.” Clearly a bit of an exaggeration, but it was to be a turning point in others acknowledging there was a real problem, because someone else’s colours where nailed to the mast. The senco still had to be backfooted into getting it on paper though.
Swan unfortunately it appears I have uncaring carrots masquerading as caring. That’s a bit sweeping and may be unfair, but they certainly fail to see helping me overcome physical access issues and realistic concerns about being unnecessarily wiped out and injured, as part of their remit.
Sorry about dh screaming, it’s what we call ‘perceived criticism’ issues here, and is a daily battle.
I love your “theatre of possibilities”
and will return to that when feeling frustrated that I’m motivated by thread but forced flat on back and unable, which causes fight flight reactions in me, neither of which are helpful.
Toffee disabled people can’t officially be carers for other disabled people even if we are the carer. Grimly hilarious double whammy. I’m not currently legally required to work (though I do, paid or not at any given time!) as a result of my own disability levels, but am being assessed for (apparently extreme disability only) PIP next week, and if I fail to qualify for it may well be reassessed as therefore not in the support group, plus ds has no legal right to remain housed post 21, is not treated as a tenant just currently my legal dependant, and the bedroom tax situation, council tax reduction cuts, plus bringing social housing rents up to private levels, means HA’s are pushing for all tenants to be able to pay all possible future fees and taxes one way or another, so while it’s not compulsory for me to attend, I face being labelled a disinterested freeloader if I don’t, and that can affect how we’re dealt with later.
Aliceand Toffee sorry to hear about injuries in the line of parental duty. There’s a lot of it about. My Dr feels I need a holiday, I feel Dr needs a reality check about our reality!
NickNacks sorry you’re in the ‘refusers’ club. They do it for all sorts of reasons from minor to major. Dd (SLD) has been known to lump me because she didn’t want to go, only to come out happy later. Opposite problem with ds, wouldn’t quit or not go regardless of how desperate things where. All of it very stressful for all.
Buddah and SC Christmas day proper for us is the 6th, but even so, our tree isn’t scheduled to come down ‘till next Wednesday, based on expectations of stronger antibiotics and new medication making it possible for me to erect wc ramp needed for removal!
As I coined ‘x is the new January’, what chance do you reckon for ‘Christmas isn’t just for Christmas you know’
(SC eye is continuing to seek escape from behind a dropped lid, hoping AB’s will sort out)
Waves to everyone else, and must get on with things and work out a list later.
