Can't help I'm afraid, but want to see what the answer is...
And how it got there!

AndyMurraysBalls · 03/11/2013 20:03

I've got silver nitrate on my living room carpet.

It's knackered. Sorry. I've had the experts in and .... it's knackered.

Can't be bothered to replace it because I'm so cross with myself.

DeathByLaundry · 03/11/2013 20:08

You can't. At least IME when it's on your skin you have to wait for the top layer of skin to fall off before it goes. Sorry :(

Not a chemist but found this.

Silver Nitrate (AgNO3)
Like most good ideas the best thing to do is to wash any glassware as soon as possible afterwards and wear protective clothing so that the silver nitrate does not get on your skin. Having said that some proposed solutions have included;

One proposed solution is to use "Silvosol", available from Rotec Scientific in Milton Keynes. It is quite expensive though lasts along time.
The use of Iodine followed by Sodium thiosulphate to remove stains has been found to work also.
Soaking the item in

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/11/2013 20:12

I don't think it will come out either, sorry.

BoffinMum · 03/11/2013 20:27

Do we think Silvosal might work, then?

Im really hoping you have a verruca. Because the other place it can be used is a bit personal.

Try the silvosol.

BoffinMum · 03/11/2013 20:52

DH has an array of truly disgusting veruccas and he was self treating ON THE SODDING BEDSPREAD with a little stick thing the chiropodist had given him, when he made two unsightly marks. I would have shot him but that would have made even more mess.

Yeah, it ain't gonna work.

Vp are a money spinner though. God bless infant school teachers for stigmatising them.

BoffinMum · 03/11/2013 21:03

To be fair to DH they were actually hurting him - they were huge and on the side of his feet, so they rubbed his shoes.
