Cheapest way of removing limescale from bathtub?

I usually buy a spray but it's expensive.
Any cheap ways of doing same job so I can have a sparkly clean bathtub?

Anything acidic should work, for example lemon juice or vinegar.

I would only expect to find true limescale around the taps, and possibly in any recesses where water lingers and dries out. Is that where you find it? Elsewhere, it is more likely soap scum.

the own-brand Bathroom sparys are formulated to remove both, and a £1 bottle lasts a long time, spray on and sponge off. If it's just soap scum or grime, GP cleaner on a sponge is much cheaper.

Lemon juice.

We are in an outrageously hard water area, so we need to descale every couple of weeks. I soak a bit of kitchen roll in lemon juice and wind it round the taps.

Maybe it's grime! The kids bath every night with bubble bath etc and tend to let the soap float around in the bath...it's a right pain to get it clean. I'm worried about damaging bath scrubbing with something like Cif but to be honest that doesn't budge it. I'm in the South if that makes any difference.

I ended up buying Sainsburys own brand limescale remover yesterday for £1.70 and whether or not the stubborn marks are limescale or not it shifted it. I thought that was quite a good price.

Cif is a fine abrasive and will dull the shine.

Give an own-brand GP cleaner equivalent to Flash a try, or WUL. If that takes it off, it is probably mostly skin oil and skin cells. Bath foam tends to clean that, though.

If limescale remover or lemon juice takes it away, it must be limescale.
