'running track' white line paint on school tracksuit - hasn't come out in wash..what next?

Hi ladies, My little Ds came home from kindergarten with white paint on his tracksuit, from the stuff school groundsmen use to mark out white lines on sports fields. I think they'd been playing on it before it was dry. It hasn't come out of his (burgundy) tracksuit, which is made of cotton sweat shirt material, even after one wash. I don't know what this paint is made of, or what to try to get it out...yikes! Any ideas?

paint on grass, or paint on tarmac?

Oh sorry, should have said grass!

they may have used big upside-down aerosol paint. it is some kind of plastic resin and very durable to withstand road traffic. Possibly white spirit would soften it, or brush cleaner, but I expect it is fully cured by now.

Otherwise the old-fashioned treatment is a sort of whitewash, but that should have come out with hot water. Old sports fields have a push-along machine to apply it with a painty wheel that dips into a tub of the limewash.

You could ask what the paint was, and if you can get hold of the packaging, email the makers. The aerosols are about £15 each so they will probably have kept any left-over ones

Thanks PigletJohn. I don't think it was the aerosol kind - there were a lot of new lines marked out, probably the push along line-marker kind. I was quite surprised it didn't come out - I was expecting it to be the white washy kind of paint. I'd have tried to get it out before washing otherwise. I'll have to check with his school I think...and probably lots of other mums will too, as the whole class were playing there!!
