I need a new vacuum but don't know where to start. Our house is a good size but tall and narrow, so lots and lots of stairs! I have a cleaner who says she'd prefer an upright but I've not had one before. What do you think of Dyson? We had one 15 years ago which broke really quickly but I've heard good things since.... Any recommendations welcome!
Thanks

I have an Argos value compact bagless it cost £28 and is excellent so much better than our old 'animal'.

I have a Henry which I'm starting to hate. It's ok downstairs (oak/tiles/terracotta) but it's not good on stairs or carpet upstairs. This may be our textured carpet rather than Henry though. I have the carpet beater attachment but it doesn't make much of a difference. We live in Wiltshire, land if the Dyson, but I've never heard brilliant things as you've said above. I am interested in Miele and Bosch though!

I know this is an old thread, but rather than start a new one, I was hoping I could revive it.

I want a small compact hoover for my holiday let. The house is tiny, so needs to fit under the stairs, and also needs to be easy to lug up and down stairs. I currently have a small cylinder cheapo one, but it's crap.

At home I have a Henry, and I love him. But he's big and clunky, and would be too big for the holiday house. Are Henriettas smaller than Henrys?

Any other compact cylinder types that people could recommend?
