Do you have a "useful" box at home, if so what's it like?

I really need to find a home for sellotape/blue tack/stamps/safety pins/scissors/tape measure etc etc and just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good storage box/basket?

Something with compartments would be good.

TIA

Sounds odd but fishing tackle boxes have what you need. Little drawers lift out and have lots of little compartments. May not be big enough for sticky tape though.

plastic toolbox from aldi. they usually have trays that lift or fold out when you open the lid, and a lower compartment for big things. Don't get a metal one, it will make holes in your leg.

I use a wire mesh box from staples, then I can see everything in it.

Thanks, would rather not have a lid so the fishing tackle or mesh box sound like they could work.

or a cleaner's caddy, if you don't want a lid.

Would www.safield.co.uk/20-pocket-door-hanging-storage-organiser-p-463.html this hanging storage organiser be any good? I have had it recommended to me but haven't got around to buying it yet.

I use the back of the door plastic pocket thingy for chargers, spare keys scissors, sticky tape, batteries things that come in multiples etc. Holds lots and can see at a glance.

Pannacotta · 26/09/2013 21:29

I like the hanging organiser but no spare door surface to hang it on!
The cleaning caddy is a good idea, though I can imagine everything getting in a muddle, unless I can find one with compartments....

Could you hang it on the inside of a cupboard door?

Pannacotta · 26/09/2013 21:42

I could do that, would need to find somewhere else for my pinny collection though!!
But yes I do think the clear pockets are good, I am very much "out of sight out of mind" so need to see what I have, or I end up with 3 of everything...

I have 2 man drawers - one for radiator keys, batteries etc, the other for DIY stuff - spanners, screw drivers etc. I tried keeping sellotape etc in the first one but OH always walked off with the scissors and used them for shearing sheep or something similar. So I now have a sturdy gift bag hidden in another cupboard with all my cards, tape, stamps, scissors and a pen.

I have yet to find a storage solution for my tape measure which is ALWAYS walking.

I have [http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/hobbycraft-plastic-27-cm-storage-box/570444-1000 one of these].

People marvel at how organised I am!

I use these 'really useful boxes':

I love them, especially the 16 unit shelving storage unit. They come in all sizes, and some colours too, though I prefer the clear ones.
