After watching "Make me a German" on BBC2 last night, I was intrigued by how much German women spend on domestic activities. I'm a SAHM, 2 kids under 5, 2 bed house and today I clocked about 3 hours on those activities. Now I did go mad and decide to hoover the cobwebs from the bedroom ceiling so today was not so normal.
I was wondering how much other MNetters spend on this?
Are we that different from our German counterparts? I found some stats online which shows we are about the same with the UK spending about 4hr15 on domestic work and the Germans 4hr11. The data from the survey is about 11 years old though. I'm guessing data collection is different too. epp.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/cache/ITY_OFFPUB/KS-NK-06-004/EN/KS-NK-06-004-EN.PDF
A more recent study referred to in the telegraph www.telegraph.co.uk/women/mother-tongue/8526413/Research-women-will-be-doing-the-housework-until-2050.html
says women do about 4hrs 40 of domestic work and childcare activities.
