Roll up, roll up to this special birthday month for the fledglings...

We are going to attempt to keep the dc happy, whilst flying. No mean feat in the month of holidays and adventures.

Rule 1. yes even in a birthday month we have rules
It is not about perfection. A little is enough, no really.
Rule 2.
You are aloud to spend time doing fun things, don't regret them or feel guilty.
Rule 3. This one is a fat fairy rule.
you are never behind, jump in where you are

So newbies if you are reading this you are probably thinking wtf?! This is a wonderful system designed by the fly lady. in days gone olde one fledgling had a dream about the fly lady in which she was a fat fairy, thus the thread nickname fat fairy was born. Just so we don't confuse you like Wink
Anyhows, this month it is Bitchy's turn to lead, and perhaps this should come with a warning. She has her own unique style of leading but don't let that scare you off, the fledglings are luffsly and generally far more sane then the bitchy one Grin just be aware of bitchy's special brew. Terribly high in caffine and can sometimes be found in the naughty corner. Which reminds me, the naughty corner if for those who are struggling for whatever reason or those just in need of a stiff drink.

So this flying thing. It has three stages:
stage one: the babysteps. these build a routine. some of them are contriversial, and some a little wishy washy seem a little less significant. But most are really good.
Stage two: babysteps and missions one the routines are in place the missions are designed to help you tackle tasks room by room. These room by room approach is helpfully referred to as zones.
stage three: the mythical deep cleaning stage yeah lets just ignore that, none of us have got to the point where we have not only decluttered but got in control of the chaos Grin

Oh yeah CHAOS - what the fat fairy calls "Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome"

That clear as mud? good. Let's Begin....

Oi blueandwhite don't read the whole thread it is pointless Jump in where we are we will be starting from the beginning on a new thread on the 1st of september anyway. and most of the thread is off objective waffling Besides the fly lady herself says you are never behind and to start where she is cos it will all come back around anyway!

dying hair- tomorrow now
anger management group planning-MUST do

GoingGoingGoth · 29/08/2013 13:32

Afternoon all, just popping in, and want to give Just a hug. Fingers crossed you can sort this out. Bastards.

Blueandwhitelover · 29/08/2013 14:30

Just procrastinated the anger management group planning by sorting and filing months of paperwork from the kitchen while watching a film. Must be time for a coffee and to finish film now.

Swanhilda · 29/08/2013 17:55

done
today, took two children swimming - ds1 seems so much better at it now after holidays, 4 lengths without putting his foot down! A bit of driving from me, and staying calm with arguing folks.
Ds2 has hurt his knees running round block and falling over, but I've managed to do some science with him.
Housework wise - took a suitcase upstairs
recycled some more clothes
s & s loo

nothing in otherwards! lot of phonecalls today

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/08/2013 20:15

Evening all,

Work today, so not a lot of Flying, just the basic routines. Took DS too football and had a nice hour reading my paper in the park while keeping an eye on DD and her friend this evening. We have a guest tonight, so I need to go and put away the mountain of clean clothes on the spare bed, we have decided to go on a last minute camping trip this weekend so a busy couple of days in store (plus I'm still slogging away on the OU assignment).

Oh, and picked up the key to the new allotment today [nervous]. Who was it that used to be on this thread that was a very keen gardener and grew all their own veg, made all their own jams etc, can't remember.

Welcome to Bluandwhitelover - are you new to the thread or have you namechanged? I lose track, anyway you sound as though you know what you're doing Flying wise, which is a good start!

Swan - that's good about DS1 and the sewimming, my DS is terrible for bobbing his foot down, our local pool is only about 4' deep for the whole length, I wish it were deeper for that reason. My DS is having 1:1 lessons now, under a scheme run by the council for children with SNs, he was struggling with group lessons, so hoping this will do the trick.

Just - hope you got through the day today and that DS has managed to hold things together for his induction, what an awful, short sighted policy that is.

pushmepullyou · 29/08/2013 22:05

Lurking and waiting for September , been on a self-imposed mn break, but lured back in by a penis thread yesterday Grin

House is scruffy and smells vaguely mouldy so September is going to have to be good!

Hope you are OK just, your poor DS Sad

BitchytheGreat · 29/08/2013 22:46

Penis thread? PMPY?

Friday is fuck fun day

missions

BlueEyeshadow · 29/08/2013 23:06

Evening all, and hi to Blueandwhite. Do you teach anger management? I often feel like I could do with some of that!

swan - have also taken the boys swimming today. DS2 floats about merrily in his rubber ring but DS1 refuses to take his feet off the ground. A school friend of his was there this morning though, and I think it did him good to see her splashing and going under water, swimming properly etc. with no fear at all.

As for flying, very little has been done today, but another thing has gone via freegle. Also finally got DH to look through loads of old computer stuff. Now need to find a sensible home for the stuff that actually needs keeping. Got to get this room straight tomorrow though as parents arriving on Sat.

pushmepullyou · 29/08/2013 23:09

Fuck fun bitchy? Is that the logical extension of date night?

BitchytheGreat · 29/08/2013 23:34

Something like that. It was a rather classic typo on my part which was suggest would make a good babystep. So date night became fuck fun. Grin

Technically speaking I was supposed to leave the caravan today and come home to do housework and prep for return to work. However, it is a beautiful day and quite frankly I would rather spend it here. Everything else will still be there tomorrow. I will keep these holidays going as long as possibleGrin.

BitchytheGreat · 30/08/2013 09:45

Enjoy ellie

just a quick note don't forget your car and purse today which is what the fat fairy actually has decided friday to be for.

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/08/2013 09:48

That's the same logic we employed when deciding to go camping this weekend Ellie, instead of ironing school uniform and doing name tapes. Have a lovely day!

NickNacks · 30/08/2013 09:58

Off shopping today :) All school hints are bought, labelled and packed/hung up but it's dd's birthday on Monday so we need presents :) very excited!

Have a good day everyone, especially those squeezing the extra days out of the holidays Grin

feetheart · 30/08/2013 10:07

Whoknows and ellie DEFINITELY the right way to treat life, enjoy :)

Welcome Blueandwhite - just make sure you don't do too much too soon and burn out. Though I some of us could do with doing at least a little bit every now and again!

Just - hope you have managed to bang some heads together. The stupidity of organisations always astounds me. Short-sighted is right. Good luck and Wine, Brew and Cake

Ta da:

  • 7 mile run
  • Bath
  • Breakfast for all though I was only involved in DS's and mine
  • Washing on
  • Look at work and look away again Blush

To do:

  • Get dressed
  • Morning routine - S&S, washing up, washing hung out, kitchen floor swept
  • Get DC to tidy rooms whilst I tidy storage area living room - as well as usual assorted crap it also has 2 radiators, a shower door and a toilet in there at the moment Shock
  • Pick up letter from Post Office
  • Maybe finally take run out to nearest Olympic gold post box and get photos - Victoria Pendleton's :)
  • Plan dinner
  • Sugar soap a wall or two on stairs
  • Go to park

Have a good day everyone.

ZingWantsCake · 30/08/2013 10:14

fuck fun Friday - tick!Grin

ZingWantsCake · 30/08/2013 10:14

should have said ta da !Wink

Swanhilda · 30/08/2013 10:50

very admiring of those who enjoy last weekend of holidays. I'm pathetic - Ive decided to spend this lovely weekend on my own in London sorting out muddle whilst dh goes to Sussex with the children. Just cannot face another fun weekend of packing, unpacking, travelling, cooking and entertaing kids! Wink so will leave dh to find out what it is like.

However for some reason this morning I've left the children in front of telly whilst achieving nothing more than coffee, cats and one load of washing. Bad night having anxiety dreams about ds1 and Spanish phrases GrinShock so I woke very early and they woke very late, slightly bad combination as they'll be up forever.

done
science workbook finished with ds2

dizzyday07 · 30/08/2013 11:26

Hi all. I am sneaking back in after months away but as its my birthday I have brought. Cake

I went in to a bit of a meltdown as I was hoping the Flylady would make the housework easier but it was adding extras to the list making me do more - and I didn't want that! It didn't help that DH does nothing except generate mess and dirty laundry. Not much has changed but as the house is an absolute pit over the summer I need to get back into my Fat Fairy wings!

pushmepullyou · 30/08/2013 11:33

We're on our way to Filey today as well, just for the day though. Dh is being a miserable arse because the traffic is quite slow. The kids are behaving much better Hmm

Blueandwhitelover · 30/08/2013 11:35

Hi all, I think I was on a previous thread under a previous name. I quite like this name so am trying to be good and keep it Grin

Today so far I have sorted out two boxes of school resources outdated crap and filed binned
Stripped the bed, washed and hung out two loads of washing.
Dyed my hair (one child once asked me why I had different coloured hair coming out of my head) ready for school.
Still procrastinating on the planning for anger management group work (it will be the first time I have run it) although I have just got everything out on the table, put the music channel on and made a pot of coffee....
I am dressed -no shoes-who wears shoes in the house????

Still to do
Planning!!!
15 minute wardrobe declutter
Ironing
Clean bathroom properly
Sort underwear drawer
Think of something for dinner
Dust
Vacuum

BitchytheGreat · 30/08/2013 12:02

ta da
Internet stuff
swear at the other computer
realise I need a serious email inbox cull
find info was looking for on email
find info that was in the massive to be sorted paperwork pile
4 out of 6 sections of job application
load of washing
cave to coffee cravings and have a cup that is half normal/half decaf

Ds is currently in just pants chilling out in front of the tv. Which is giving him a down time kinda day and me chance to get this application sorted.

BitchytheGreat · 30/08/2013 12:13

Shit getting distracted and i have deadlines. err until later....

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/08/2013 13:43

Ta-da!

Bugger all. I'm trying to do my assignment but the DCs are continually bugging me. They don't want to go out, or even go in the garden, they've had enough TV, they just want me to play and I'm trying to concentrate. House is deteriorating fast all around me, never mind.
