My AEG fridge freezer door is hanging on precariously, please recommend a new one!

I have a 6 year old AEG fridge freezer which has silly plastic door hinges and the door is about to fall off.

I need urgently to get a new fridge and don't know what brand/model to get. Maximum £800. 4 freezer drawers, and at least 4 shelves.

I've looked at Samsung as they look good and there are many offers around, but the delivery times are stupid (3-4 weeks). I ordered a Miele which was on offer at John Lewis, but a consumer website really damned it so I cancelled.

Please help Flowers

Depends what the hinges are like and where they've broken but could you swap the door to open from the other side? That's what we did with our very old fridge and it's given it another few years of life so far.

Replace the hinges? Try eSpares or similar, see if it's cost effective.

Our fridge has lost its handle and it was fifty quid for a new one, so I didn't bother. But I've successfully and cheaply fixed other appliances courtesy of their videos and spare parts.

Could yoy not rehang the door? Or get someone in.to do it?

I think I need something like this, which goes on the base of the fridge door. It costs £5 but I have I idea how to fit it. I had previously asked a domestic appliance firm for an estimate, and he told me he would need to replace the door, and said it would be approx £230 inc labour Shock.

try youtube or espares for video tutorials. You may need a set of torq (torc?) screwdrivers, which espares sell, if the screws have the star-shaped heads.

Thanks Chippy. I've ordered a new AEG as I do love the design, and the hinges are all metal now. I looked at a Bosch and it had plastic hinges so immediately dropped that!
