BBQ grills in the dishwasher - yes or no?

Had a BBQ yesterday and having a job getting the grills clean. Would like to get as much of the black greasy gunk off as possible before they are put away.

If I put them in the dishwasher, will it do a good job on them, and will I end up with a dishwasher full of black greasy gunk making everything else dirty?

Tbh I haven't done this with BBQ grills, but I have with sticky/gunky oven grills and it's been very successful. If any little bits are left they're very easy to remove.

leave them over the hot coals for a bit to burn away the grease.

grease in a dishwasher can accumulate and cause internal blockages.

You could use Oven Pride on them, they'll come up like new.

I do it all of the time. But if they really are caked put them in on their own otherwise the other items can get covered in the residue.

It can also help if you squirt them with a cleaner before you put them in.

You never ever clean a BBQ, period! Smile It all adds to the flavour. But, if you do want a little scrub, heat it up and scrub with a wire brush.
