July's Fledgling Flyers: Summer holidays are on their way and the clutter is going to FLY away

elliepac · 30/06/2013 20:33

Welcome old and new fledglings to the July Fledgling FLYers thread!

Thank you very much to cpmpy for leading us expertly through June- it's been a while since I lead so I can't promise to be as efficient but will do my best Grin. This will start by copying and pasting pmpy's original June postGrin

If you're overwhelmed by clutter and general household grub then join us as we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system or languish in the naughty corner hoping to do better tomorrow

As usual, we will be following the Flylady three-pronged approach:

  1. Baby-steps (a daily step to establish routines)
  2. Then baby-steps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. (And once decluttered) babysteps + daily missions and maybe even detailed cleaning in the weekly zones

For more information have a look here, although to avoid a cluttered inbox, we advise not signing up to the Flylady emails. The basic principle is little and often and don't worry about perfection (no chance of that here!).

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on and chat our way through the month

I have had a Shock - Not a bad one, it's is just going to take me a little while to not feel like this - Shock but I think I could soon be looking like this - Grin Grin Grin

Darkened room needed!!!

ToffeeWhirl · 16/07/2013 21:05

Grin, PA. I hope it's what I think it is.

chb - sorry. It's an ongoing battle with CAMHS, in my experience.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/07/2013 21:09

Is it something to do with DD3 PA?

CHBitchy · 16/07/2013 21:13

Sounds good PA Grin

elliepac · 16/07/2013 21:13

I think we are all thinking along the same lines here Wink.

elliepac · 16/07/2013 22:12

If it's not what we think it is, we will be mightily disappointed. Wink

Hope it is what I think it is Grin Grin Grin

PA - come back and tell us!

SC - Tufty was the squirrel's name Grin. DH showed DS2 a clip of one of the old adverts. He was in the Tufty Club! It's so silly that those kind of safety films aren't shown to children anymore, especially as roads are now busier than ever.

Am just printing out some work for DS1 tomorrow, then aiming for a decent night's sleep, heat permitting.

elliepac · 17/07/2013 07:09

Morning all Smile.

Quick round-up for yesterday looks like this.

pa was in a darkened room leaving us all on tenterhooks as to the reason behind such drastic action.

chb was struggling with cahms Sad

swan was being very efficient packing DC's off on reward trips (that means they have been good though Smile)

sc was watching mutating animals..eeeew.

blue had a good flying morning but wasn't planning much for the afternoon!

carpe was undergoing wasp sting trauma and we all offered out wise words. Is it wrong her posts were keeping us entertained WinkGrin.

jdub was finding it too hot to sleep and hoovering fleas. We too have an outbreak of the little blighters.

toffee was embracing Tufty the squirrl. I have a dim memory of being in that club myself!

jesstryinghard was going to live up to her name.

Back in a sec with links.

Your babystep for today is bedtimes. A controversial one that some of us struggle to stick to.

Your mission for today is here.

Today is Anti-Procrastination Day. Which is a bit tricky for me as my whole life is spent procrastinating Grin.

Have a good day everyone!

PositiveAttitude · 17/07/2013 07:26

Bloody hell you lot are unbelievable!!!!

Right, if you are connected to me in any other way in life (RL or internet life) PLEASE do not mention this in any way. I am saying it on here because otherwise I think I will explode!!

Yes, DD3 has come back from honeymoon and within a week announced that she is pregnant. I am going to be a grandmother!!!! Shock and yes, Bitchy I am feeling as if I am turning into a grey haired, knitting in the rocking chair type person overnight! Hmm My head is in a spin. I am stupidly excited, but still in shock, too. Soooooooooo very glad I am staying in this country even more so now.

On the flying front I am just going to tackle my grimy wetroom. that's about all I can cope with thinking about at the moment.

Kindle fire should arrive today - wooooo.

Flip, I cant even think to type on here. My head is a nightmare!! What do grandmothers normally feel like. I feel wayyyyyyy too young to be a grandmother - even the word sounds wrong "Grandmother" Oh my goodness!!! "Nanny" it is going to be.

Oh my goodness!!!!!

CarpeVinum · 17/07/2013 07:35

Ohhhhh! Are we getting a FlyFetus ?

I was flying last night.

Just not housework flying.

Drug based flying.

Took antihistamine, behaved like well drugged up illicit drug user. Was staring at things like they were facinating.

And then fell over.

Do no doc, cos was comotose and (allegdly) got quite shitty when DH tried to rouse me to get in the car.

Woke up at six with a massive druggie hangover.

But hand is now normal swollen hand shaped, not cartoon swollen hand shaped, and all the swelling between wrist and elbow has completely gone.

But think I am going to have to be really careful to avoid stings in future. This is the third time in nine years that while gardening I have shoved my hand on a nest and got several stings at once. Each time the reaction is so much worse. Worried that next time might tip me over into the serious shit kind of reactions. So from now on I am gloving up in the garden at all times and nests will be sprayed (from a safe distance) as soon as they are spotted.

Today I will just try and catch up on a day with no housework yesterday. Not pushing hand any more than that cos is still quite sore.

CarpeVinum · 17/07/2013 07:37

X post

GrandFlyFetus !!!

Yay !!

Should we knit ?

Many many grandbaby congrats !!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/07/2013 07:38

Flowers for PA!

My cousin was a grandmother at about 44 and is glamorous, young looking and unconventional (she's also a vicar). I think you've got a lot to look forward to!

PositiveAttitude · 17/07/2013 07:49

Thanks Carpe and Whoknows Just realised I am the first on this thread aren't I?? Oh dear!!!

Trazzletoes · 17/07/2013 08:17

PA Wine Brew and Thanks !!!!!!

My DM felt too young to be a Grandmother at 60-odd sp I wouldn't worry! She really didn't want to be a "Grandma" so she's an Oma. I know some Nonnas as well. The DCs may well prefer to call her something more "British" as they grow up but it's super cute right now!

Carpe an escalation in reactions is a concern and something I would go and see a Doctor about here.

I also know a friend's mum who was a Grandma before she was 50 and she is extremely glamorous and not gran-like at all.

Steamedcabbage · 17/07/2013 08:54

Congratulations PA!!! That is fab news!! Grin Flowers Wine

Carpe my circs exact same as yours - ask for epi pen

Thanks for links Ellie

Hope all OK Bitchy

Dashing! Frantic waves ...

Steamedcabbage · 17/07/2013 08:56

Sorry, that wasn't very clear Carpe

Meant have had escalating reaction after being stung 3 times in as many months. Went to doc after last episode and they recommended carrying epi pen.

Steamedcabbage · 17/07/2013 08:57

PA btw - you will be a brill grandmother!!! Grin

ToffeeWhirl · 17/07/2013 09:53
