July's Fledgling Flyers: Summer holidays are on their way and the clutter is going to FLY away

elliepac · 30/06/2013 20:33

Welcome old and new fledglings to the July Fledgling FLYers thread!

Thank you very much to cpmpy for leading us expertly through June- it's been a while since I lead so I can't promise to be as efficient but will do my best Grin. This will start by copying and pasting pmpy's original June postGrin

If you're overwhelmed by clutter and general household grub then join us as we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system or languish in the naughty corner hoping to do better tomorrow

As usual, we will be following the Flylady three-pronged approach:

  1. Baby-steps (a daily step to establish routines)
  2. Then baby-steps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. (And once decluttered) babysteps + daily missions and maybe even detailed cleaning in the weekly zones

For more information have a look here, although to avoid a cluttered inbox, we advise not signing up to the Flylady emails. The basic principle is little and often and don't worry about perfection (no chance of that here!).

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on and chat our way through the month

Owch, carpe, that sounds awful. Have you taken paracetamol or ibuprofen? You have probably looked up treatment, but in case not, useful link here.

Flying today:

Two loads of washing (bedclothes)
Several lots of washing up
Bathroom swish and swipe
Bathroom towel changed
Kitchen tidied
Kitchen floor washed
Dinner cooked

Am helping out at DS2's school tomorrow, so I don't think much else will get done.

Night all.

elliepac · 16/07/2013 07:07

Morning all.

Morning all,

Not much Flying to report here either, I was stuck at the computer most of the day yesterday doing all sorts of admin, which wasn't such a bad thing as the computer is in the middle of the house away from the blistering heat. Just did some shopping early on and a couple of loads of washing really. I am not enjoying this weather apart from the washing drying so quickly and being able to eat dinner outside, far too hot for me.

Work today, air conditioning, lovely!

Hope you got some sleep with your throbby hand Carpe

Jesstryinghard · 16/07/2013 08:34

Carpe that sucks ! How is it this m

Jesstryinghard · 16/07/2013 08:36

Oh fudge how do I keep doing that ! Damn I phone !
Carpe did you sleep with that hand?? Poor you !

Did nothing yesterday really apart from cook dinner and wash the dishes

Oh dear must try harder today

Jdub · 16/07/2013 10:03

Good morning!
Bloody wasps - that's awful. Hope the pain is lessening.

Lovely ride home last night, kicked my trainers off and jumped straight into the paddling pool with my lads! Bliss!

A late night -no one could sleep, too hot! So cooking tea, washing up, ya da ya da ya da, took ages in between reassuring bedroom visits with "don't fret, it's hot, you'll sleep eventually!"

Must do
filing
meal plan
hoover (to combat cat's flea outbreak- a downside of the heat)
washing out/in and away

Have a happy day x

Steamedcabbage · 16/07/2013 10:41

Morning all

Feeling a bit feak and weeble this morning.

Had another sort of wierd gastro bug thing last night - we always all eat the same thing - and everyone else OK - so not food poisoning I think. Felt dire for 2 hrs and then felt fine again. Very odd. I'm sneezing too so wondering if that is anything to do with it. Had similar thing last week but have been fine in between.

So frustrating ... have so much to do in the house ...loads of dc coming over to play (one who has allergy to dust! ) and some people coming to help me move furniture up and down the stairs at the end of the week ..;so lots to prepare ... but don't feel particularly strong in this heat.

Just trying to soldier on. Not helped by raging birthday party in flats next door that went on until 2 am this mornnig (who has a party on a Monday night?) and now teenagers strumming guitars (badly) across the street ...

Carpe ouch re: wasp sting. Hope pain is easing. Keep an eye on it - I had really bad one a couple of years ago (in foot) and now have to carry epi pen. Draw a line where the redness is and then check it every half hour or so. If it is proceeding rapidly up your arm then go see a doc!

Swan couldn't agree more about properly administered sunshine!

Must be a huge adjustment being back PA take it steady x

Glad you found the padlock Blue

Enjoy your holiday goth

Had better go ... dd is summoning me to look at caterpillars who are apparently pupating ... desperately hoping they will hatch in time for her "butterfly" themed party next week but going to be very close run thing!

Sorry no more personals ...

Waves to Jess Jdub Ellie Whoknows Toffee Bitchy Honu Just Asheth Trazzles Pushme Lauren and everyone else I've missed!

Keep cool and carry on!

CarpeVinum · 16/07/2013 12:02

It's not proceeding rapidly up my arm, but I can see a new sort of "fat line" of swelling up my arm.(halfway to elbow) But on the other hand, 3 fingers are much better than yesterday.

I'm not going to stop breathing am I ?

Jesstryinghard · 16/07/2013 12:08

Can you go see a nurse ? Have you taken an anti hystamine ?

CarpeVinum · 16/07/2013 12:23

I sort of wimped put of the anti histamine, cos they make me go funny. Like I'm not really here.

But I have been dunking it in freezing cold water when I am totally driven mad by the itchies.

I have anti histamine in the house if necessary. I guess I should go to the pharmacist. Doc is shut today. But emergency doc opens ay 8pm.

Steamedcabbage · 16/07/2013 12:25

Yes, anti-histamine might help

follow advice here but obviously, if in doubt, seek medical help!

ToffeeWhirl · 16/07/2013 12:26

If in doubt, go and see your GP, Carpe. Or do you have a small injuries unit at your local hospital that you could visit? Are you wheezy at all? I agree with Jess that you should take an antihistamine.

ellie - thanks for linkies.

SC - so sorry you are feeling so rough. Horrible to have to soldier on when you just want to flop into bed and sleep. I hope those caterpillars hatch in time for the party next week.

Envy at work air conditioning, WhoKnows.

Jdub - also Envy at cooling off in paddling pool.

No Flying yet as I have spent the entire morning doing road training with seven year olds. Am always so touched by their sweetness (especially the curly-haired one that is my own Wink).

Back to feed up DS1 (am getting really worried by his low weight) and do some home ed now.

ToffeeWhirl · 16/07/2013 12:27

Sorry, x-posted, Carpe. I agree that a visit to your pharmacist would be a good start.

CarpeVinum · 16/07/2013 12:30

Although severe allergic reactions are not that common, they can lead to shock, cardiac arrest, and unconsciousness in 10 minutes or less. This type of reaction can occur within minutes after a sting and can be fatal. Get emergency treatment as soon as possible.

ARRRRGGGGG !

Ok ok I'll go to the emergency doc after 8. I'll still get seen quicker than going to the ER now.

That won't happen now right ? I got stung last night.

ToffeeWhirl · 16/07/2013 12:34

I really think if you were going to have an allergic reaction it would have happened by now, carpe, but it sounds as if you had quite a lot of stings, so you should still get looked at. Don't worry.

Jesstryinghard · 16/07/2013 12:57

I really feel for you carpe but you do make me laugh !!

BlueEyeshadow · 16/07/2013 13:20

Grr. Had long post typed out, but DS2 closed the tab and lost it...

Gist was an attempt to lob antihistamines in the general direction of Carpe but everyone else seems to have beaten me to it. Hope it's feeling better now. I always have a bad reaction to bites and stings. Hate 'em.

SC - rather you than me with hatching butterflies in the house. Can't argue with the prettiness, but fluttery things freak me out.

Ta da!
Washing done and on line
Bathroom - inadvertant zone work due to boy-related mishaps...
Office missions - today's and yesterday's
Tidied our bedroom while half-listening to my mum on phone
Zumba - early morning in hall with air-con - luvverly

To do:
Play loads of games with DS2
Phone rail enquiries
Help DS1 with project on Grace Darling.
Make biscuits

Hmm, not much flying on there for the rest of the day.

CHBitchy · 16/07/2013 13:30

Not going to help you much but you can get a delayed allergic reaction so go get seen Carpe

I am in a bad mood. A really really bad mood. that is all.

Steamedcabbage · 16/07/2013 13:49

Arf at Carpe Grin Hope you get it sorted!

Blue I am beginning to agree ...
eeeuuuggghhhhhwwwwaaaarrrreeeuuuggghhhh

  • five of the caterpillars have just pupated
  • having attached themselves to roof of hatchery in webbing, they then exude green slime, and wriggle until their heads fall off
  • dd is transfixed and horrified at same time
tis like watching an episode of Doctor Who in miniature in your sitting room

Seriously though, if any of you are staying in the same place for three weeks or so and good weather is forecast can really recommend esp for 9 year-old-ish dc!!

Btw Blue I usually have a very tidy downstairs after sister no. 1 has called!! Wink

Well done re: road training Toffee (what was that squirrel called? If it was a squirrel?)

Hope your day gets better Bitchy

Right, I am feeling a bit better, so going to force myself to clear dining table hot spot and start on material boxes (again) It's too hot to go outside ...

Swanhilda · 16/07/2013 14:06

done
hospital appt, long walk, hot sun
swept kitchen floor
worktops
washing on
3 children off on reward trips, 2 to swimming and I to bowling, cue a lot of fighting over sandwiches, shorts and locker money! Ds1 is spending the entire day in a bowling alley; personally I can't think of anything less rewarding!

Now I need to go to the Senco at primary and find out about ds2 and his blessed level 3 in SATS.

todo
force dd to go to Piano straight after she gets off the coach

the rest of the evening...more cleaning very much required

Carpe I am allergic to wasp stings. Every time I get stung it gets worse, but maybe if you are a newbie to stings you will be fine. Piriton is great!

Jesstryinghard · 16/07/2013 14:27

There are some non drowsy anti hystamines carpe

My son takes Benadryl (cetrazine) which is non drowsy
