I only do if it's an expensive one ,have just washed a few, royal pita! Am I a mug, should I just chuck them in the machine?Does it ruin them?

Hand wash them every time - after ruining loads of them in the washing machine in my yoof. It wasn't the fact that the wire came out in the wash, it was the fact that the little bobbly bit on the end of the wire always came off, and the wire would then poke through and dig in my breastbone. Ouch!!

JonesTheSteam · 29/05/2006 16:08

Nope - in the washing machine on the handwash cycle.

moondog · 29/05/2006 16:09

I shall do now that iIhave experienced a mid life crisis and gone out spending a lot of money on some really rather racy little numbers...Grin

WWB told us that driers also send elastic in knickers and school tights funny.

Shock Alexmum!!!!!!!!!!! Always machine wash mine, although probably wouldn't if I could afford a R&P one... I change size so often though that it wouldn't be worth the money anyway.

MadameClarydeClary · 30/05/2006 09:15

I handwash mine since a machine washed one came to pieces in the wash and covered everything with strange grey powder....
Plus mine are very expensive (strange nork size) and hard to get so I want to keep em at their best!
(lol at this thread btw esp at bras getting cellulite...)

MrsSpoon · 30/05/2006 09:22

I handwash mine these days, previously always stuck them in machine. I bought some new bras a while back (cost a fortune, ample norkage) and made a vow to always handwash them and they look much better than my machine washed bras did.

MrsBadgerAvecUneVoiture · 30/05/2006 09:29

am a standard M&S size and don't have lacy/frilly/delicate ones, so I machine wash because it says on the label you can.
If it did drop to bits and/or broke the machine I'd be down to M&S customer services shaking my fist... but I haven't needed to yet.

dressedupnowheretogo · 30/05/2006 09:36

i always hand wash mine at around 38 quid a time its the least i can do

NomDePlume · 30/05/2006 09:43

I put mine in the machine on the handwash cycle, inside a pillow case (in case one of the wires does go awry).

dressedupnowheretogo · 30/05/2006 09:45

the hot water melts the plastic on the ends of wires which then ruins the bra and sometimes your machine also colours arent always fast

How hot are you washing them (the ones who have melted??) - I've never had any issues and I'm intrigued now.
