Welcome to the May Fledgling FLYers thread! :-)
... where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of and chatting along the way.

This little-and-often system is designed so that we can follow a series of steps and routines each day (which gradually become second nature) in weekly designated zones of the house; defining and minimising housework - which in theory should leave us with more time to do other, more interesting things instead!

At the same time it is intended to reduce that panicky "rabbit in headlights" feeling we get when we are overwhelmed and everything needs doing all at once.

To avoid being inundated with details, we advise not signing up to the Big Tent.

We are in the process of following Flylady's steps and routines using a three-pronged approach (dependent on the stage everyone is at):

  • start or repeat baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.
[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

Flylady site is here

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on. Thanks to SC, Blue, Silvery and Goth for leading us through since January and for the brilliant OP I've just cut and pasted.

I have ta da'd most of my earlier list with the exception of room rescuing the entrance which I cba to do.

No tupperware sorting for me this month as I did it last time it came up and haven't used any since it's still tidy

Struggling with the 5:2 diet today - am starving. Need to fold the washing but will have to do it in the morning instead

DorisShutt · 08/05/2013 06:19

Morning all!

Work/fast day for me today so no to/ta-da list planned for me today.

Hoping to get the dishwasher emptied before I leave though.

Going to have to revise my home cleaning routine though; the stairs haven't been hoovered in... um...

Work should be relatively quiet today though, so I'll maybe just do that instead! Blush Grin

Good morning!
I have optimistically hung out a load of washing before I left for work - yes it was raining, but yes it was blowy too!!

Lots of bank chores and form bleugh to deal with today, but unusually, I'm at work on a Wednesday, and have a nice lot of things to do today here to get me in the mood for continuing my productivity (hmm - we'll see!) when I get home!

Have a top day xx

LPlateFlyer · 08/05/2013 10:06

Morning all!

Castle - thank you for removing the link. Because of the risk of oversharing on here while chatting, I have deliberately used a different name to post on other threads (particularly AIBU!!). Only this thread and a DIY thread in the property section are under this name.

Well my flying has been very hit and miss lately.

I am keeping on top of my washing, the dishes get done, I am doing a better job of swishing the loo and bathrooms, prepping clothes for the next day, but the rest? Hopeless fail.

Did DIY work yesterday (painting the stair case), came on here to do some posting, but I'm doing the 5:2 and yesterday was my fast day, and I just couldn't stay on the computer as my cravings got too bad. 3rd fast day and it's really showing on the scales. Very pleased with it.

I need to do a quick run around and tidy up before I head out to work, as the DS's childcarer will be coming back here with them. (Eeek!!!)

BBL!

Apologies everyone for the late links. My internet connection was down last night and this morning, at home. Am at work and shouldn't be online at all and finally getting the links up. Will be back later on.

LPlate I had nothing to do with the link. Crafts put up the link, and she took it down again.

Trazzletoes · 08/05/2013 14:12

My house has just been completely trashed by a rampage of pre-schoolers. I want to cry.

Jdub · 08/05/2013 14:29

I hope you knew them, and they weren't just a random marauding group of 3 year olds!!

DorisShutt · 08/05/2013 14:50

See, now I have visions of a slightly more youthful St Trinians gang rampaging around Trazzles house Grin Complete with catapults, dirty faces and cockney accents!

PositiveAttitude · 08/05/2013 15:20

Is all calm again here? can't cope with added excitement at the moment.

Day off today and have done the grand total of......nothing!! Its been heavenly!!!

Yesterday was a very tiring day, but great fun. I was on the De-worming duty! Oh the glamour of my job!!!! I am slightly concerned though as I needed to ask all the females if there was any chance of being pregnant before giving them a tablet. I am worried that my language skills were not as good as they could be and the ladies thought I was giving them a tablet to stop them getting pregnant!!! I might need to go into hiding for the next 9 months and we might suffer a baby boom in the village and everyone would blame me!!!

day off tomorrow too - yay, 2 in a row, unheard of!!! Khmer reading lesson first thing, then some shopping and back to have a day of pottering around the house at my own pace and having rests from the heat between any jobs. Sounds good to me!! Wink

DH is getting up at 2am to watch a football match, so he has already gone to bed. DS feeling unwell so he has gone to bed and DD4 gone to, so I am enjoying some FB time and chatting with DD1, 2 & 3! lovely!!! Just choosing a "mother of the bride" dress that wont make me look like a moving tent, or someone who is 80 years old!!!!

Evening everyone.

Trazzletoes · 08/05/2013 15:45

I wish Doris. No, it's completely mashed playmobil, wee everywhere and everything trampled on, pulled apart and destroyed. I hate it. It actually drives me to tears every time. I tell them how much it stresses me out when they come. They keep inviting themselves over.

Trazzletoes · 08/05/2013 15:49

Ps. I'm only bitching on here so I don't say anything to their faces because they are generally amazing incredibly supportive friends who help me out an awful lot.

superfluouscurves · 08/05/2013 17:52

Trazzles think you are heroic to be hosting playdates for pre-schoolers fondly remembers time dd and 3 yr old friend spilt chocolate milk all over parquet and cleaned it up with the socks they were wearing at the time and then decided to wipe their hands on the white linen curtains. Think you need a lot some of this Wine

Arf at PA's inadvertent baby-boom!

Sorry to hear about the chicken pox Newbie - hope your dd feels better soon

Pushme if you are the tortoise then I am elderly cranky dinosaur

[scratches head over narky namechanger - am useless at guessing!]

Big waves to Castle and everyone else

A bit of a 'meh' day here today. DD came home distraught having had a difficult morning (too long to share but classmate had pushed her and she is mahoosively over-sensitive). Dh scunnered and crabby because he's over-worked and is doing the 5:2 and it's a fast day.

I tried to hide in the garden (which looks wonderful at this time of year for 5 mins - lovely lilac and crab apple blossom - then it all goes down hill from then on in) but fur was flying (literally) when the rabbits had a horrible fight. They (both does) do annoy each other occasionally and hump for England/Belgium but normally get on pretty well. But today they fell out big time and were leaping in the air taking great junks out of one another. Have never seen anything like it. Rushed up the lawn to try and separate them and got scratched for my troubles. They have been lying peacefully stretched out together ever since though... let's hope the truce holds overnight (when they are locked up together).

SC tries to slip away without referring to Flying or tupperware

Work

My lovely childcarer/part time nanny (am only hiring her one afternoon a week, but she used to work for me as a mother's help several years ago when she first started and she and the DSs have a mutual admiration society going on!!) managed to sort the boys' room out in about 1 1/2 hours. She's seriously a wizard and a gem. I've now arranged with her to do a mix of childcaring and housework on the day she works for me. I'm hoping she can help me get this place sorted!!!

Trazzletoes · 08/05/2013 18:58

sc it wasn't through choice. One of the other children walked in, went in to the toilet and proceeded to wee on the floor. He then refused the clean clothes he was given to wear and insisted on wearing his wet clothes to sit all over the playroom/ toys I have taken out shares in Dettol anti-bac spray.

newbiebaby · 08/05/2013 20:11

Thanks super

Babystep 9 is to read the Decluttering Flying lesson and to add a five minute room rescue to your Morning Routine.

We?re in The Kitchen until the end of the week. We are decluttering, or detailed cleaning, in this zone for 15 minutes a day.

Today?s Misson is to grab a toothbrush and scrub the faucets of the kitchen sink?
The Flight plan for our daily routines, should update automatically.

Finally, the habit for the month of May is to get Moving!

Castlelough · 08/05/2013 22:17

Good evening everyone!

I have a tiny list today but at least I have one for a change.
In honour of Anti-Procrastination Day I made an appointment to see the doctor about something that I?ve been worrying about for a year while?
I also managed to tidy the kitchen (sink is shining!) and to do Blush Monday?s Mission.

I am totally stumped as to who the Narky Namechanger is btw?.!

Newbie has a little one with chicken pox to cope with these days. Have some Wine.
LPlate is also doing the 5:2 diet?..tell me more! How are you finding it?
Doris I hope your fast day has gone well today.
Elliepac Well done on your list, and also on getting Moving! You are doing well with your C25k ? good for you!
Trazzles has had a pack of toddlers gatecrashing her home today, and they?ve left their mark! Shock Oh dear!
PA has been choosing a ?mother of the bride? outfit! Very exciting! Had a Grin at your efforts to boost the baby boom out in your corner of Asia!
SC I used to have two rabbits when I was a teenager younger. They were both bucks, and used to carry on exactly as you have described your does. They would hump each other, and tear tufts out of each other, drawing blood. It was quite worrying to watch so I?ll extend my sympathies?
Elliepac is back on the Flywagon and doing really well!
Blue has a very sizeable ta-da list!
Waves to JDub, Pushme and anybody else who may be loitering in the naughty corner? Grin.
