Welcome to the May Fledgling FLYers thread! :-)
... where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of and chatting along the way.

This little-and-often system is designed so that we can follow a series of steps and routines each day (which gradually become second nature) in weekly designated zones of the house; defining and minimising housework - which in theory should leave us with more time to do other, more interesting things instead!

At the same time it is intended to reduce that panicky "rabbit in headlights" feeling we get when we are overwhelmed and everything needs doing all at once.

To avoid being inundated with details, we advise not signing up to the Big Tent.

We are in the process of following Flylady's steps and routines using a three-pronged approach (dependent on the stage everyone is at):

  • start or repeat baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.
[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

Flylady site is here

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on. Thanks to SC, Blue, Silvery and Goth for leading us through since January and for the brilliant OP I've just cut and pasted.

Good morning everyone. Just got back on here and have been reading about blog ishews.

As others such as Castle have said, in the spirit of the thread, I am sure it can all been handled in a friendly way. I'm sure Craftsonsea didn't mean to (purposefully) cause any hassles.

(Thanks for your explanatory post Doris and arf at witness identity prog! Grin)

For someone who can't post succinctly to save her life and over-shares (and whinges!) on a daily basis, in all honesty I suppose, like PA Just and Pushme I would much prefer there not to be a direct link here. (Live in expat community which although not small, makes it easier to be identified.) Also respect other views of long-timers such as Bitchy and Nicknacks who feel the nature of the thread will change if its exposed to too much public scrutiny. The support of the element of the thread is important I think.

On the other hand, we are using the facilities of a public site which is encouraging people to blog and link to other social media which leads me to a practical (genuine) question; are we "allowed" (ie within our rights)to ask people not to link to this thread? The answer is probably not (isn't it? - sorry - am woefully ignorant about social networking) but if asked nicely, Crafts on Sea might be willing to oblige!

Don't worry as PA and Blue have said, this thread has stumbled a couple of times but we have always got through it. I certainly hope no-one will leave because of this.

Have a good day people!

[Leaves out mollifying tray of [biscuits] and Brew]

PA good luck with your demanding day!
Starting again (again) here too Ellie
Blue am increasingly Envy of your community singing! Sounds fab!

Big encouraging wing flaps to everyone else!

Oh God, how embarrassing, I've just spewed out post below without seeing Craftsonsea's post at 9:07:56 where she says she only linked to 'Good Housekeeping' not this specific thread and has now taken out any reference to Mumsnet!

Thanks for doing that Crafts! It's much appreciated. Sorry to miss your post!

[Clears throat, um, as you were people!] Grin

superfluouscurves · 07/05/2013 09:49

[Leaves out more Brew and Biscuit ]

superfluouscurves · 07/05/2013 10:09

Good point Blue btw. I need reminding!

Meant to say Castle have a good trip home.

Waves to Goth and everyone else.

Better get on with yesterday's list Blush

Jdub · 07/05/2013 10:58

Morning all! Hope everyone has this glorious sunshine - it's SO beautiful!

Long weekend, but only time to achieve the bare minimum yesterday - but that did result in a floor wash!

to do
filing
dust upstairs
sort ill-fitting clothes!

Have a lovely Tuesday x

Trazzletoes · 07/05/2013 11:04

It's just me and DS at home today so list is:

Complete hospital visit
Wash blanket that DS has just vommed over because the daft receptionist only offered us a sick bowl AFTER he had been sick
Shopping at supermarket
Get kitchen back to reasonable standard
Do some crochet tonight

ToffeeWhirl · 07/05/2013 12:39

Sorry to see all the upset on here last night, but very relieved harmony has been restored again . Crafts was clearly just being complimentary by linking to our thread. Thanks for taking out the link,Crafts, and do stick with us. If it makes you feel better, I was responsible for attracting an unprecedented number of newbies to our thread one New Year by not including the word 'fledgling' in the title to indicate that we were a long-running thread, but the thread survived and I am still here (and everyone is still talking to me, I think) Blush.

Trazzle - good to see you are at home with DS today. Hope he's not sick again, poor boy.

Have had a sociable weekend, which also included taking the new kitten to the vet and discovering he had cat flu. Luckily, after being poorly for a few days, he is really perking up now and beginning to get his voice back.

DS1's OCD is awful today, so I have prescribed telly and kitten cuddles for him, whilst I tackle the house. I think I need to do a crisis clean .

Will start with a list of three:

Wash our bedclothes
Wash up in kitchen
Room rescue in dining room

elliepac · 07/05/2013 12:55

Thank you craftsSmile.

Craftsonsea · 07/05/2013 13:35

Thank you to Super, Castle, Blue and others, Toffee I think the last time I was on this thread it was probably the one you are referring to as I remember there being lots of newbies and it was around New Year?! Anyway as I said before, I was just trying to ensure that anyone who read my post and wanted to do Flylady found somewhere there would get some encouragement, I certainly didn't mean to offend. In all honesty I will probably pootle off elsewhere, so if someone wants to pm bitchy and tell her it's safe to return then go ahead, as she has been on here far longer than me I wouldn't want her to think that she's been kicked out in any way.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/05/2013 13:44

I've missed the hullabaloo too (been away for the weekend), but for what it's worth, I kind of like things just the way they are on this thread and it is a shame if anyone feels they have to leave (unless it is because they simply can't keep up with the chat in which case I fully understand). It is about so much more than housekeeping for those of us that have been on here a long time, newcomers are always welcome but it does get hard to keep up with if hordes descend all at once. I'm not too worried about my own privacy as I am careful with what I say on MN anyway but appreciate that there are others who due to circumstances are easier to identify. Anyway, it seems to have all been resolved now.

Just about to put my 5th lot of washing on the line, it's a glorious day here. We had a great weekend on the Isle of Wight, which is a regular destination for us, Saturday was a bit cold but otherwise lovely weather and a nice time was had by all.

I'm on my fasting day today after a weekend of overindulgence - I lost 3lbs last week but have managed to put it all back on again Blush

Trazzletoes · 07/05/2013 13:58

Crafts I don't think there is any need for you to go. I am sure Bitchy and NickNacks will be back imminently. I hope so, anyway.

superfluouscurves · 07/05/2013 13:59

Yeah, sincerely hope everyone will feel that they can stay x

ToffeeWhirl · 07/05/2013 14:11

I agree with Trazzle and others - don't feel you need to go, Crafts. I thought the issue had been resolved now.

pushmepullyou · 07/05/2013 15:08

Yes crafts don't go Smile. I'm sure Bitchy won't have gone far.

elliepac · 07/05/2013 19:44

SilveryMoon · 07/05/2013 19:56

Evening.
Glad to see things have been resolved. Seems to be more of a case of misunderstanding (although, I am not trying to brush over anyone's feelings about it) but crafts says the link was to the general hpusework topic board and not this particular thread.
But now we have all had the chance to voice how we feel about being linked to etc it hopefully won't happen again.
I do hope bitchy and nicknacks come back soon.

Not much excitement here. Been on INSET today which was about SDP/RAP and then time to prepare phonics resources in the afternoon.

Ta Da

NarkyNamechanger · 07/05/2013 20:00

I've also got my most hated task of the year on my list ellie if it helps you feel better. Mine is the dreaded tax return. It isn't even that bad but it's the getting organised and actually geeting my backside in gear to do it. :(

Small ta da list but I'll not post it today ('tis very small!)

Work tomorrow and cleaner coming so should really be tidying round for her but will probably end up getting up a bit earlier and do it in the morning instead.

:) Might BBL.
