If its an or chain store Internet special & a fair bit cheaper it's a Spanish Bosch which are lower quality. If you shop at an independent retailer they'll tell you which it is but you can find out the relevant model numbers if you google I think

themidwife · 18/04/2013 05:09

Yes my Bosch does that & my Bosch dishwasher also senses how dirty the dishes are & does an appropriate wash too.

ItsYonliMe · 18/04/2013 14:45

You have to be careful to get a German made Bosch. They are making them in different countries now (Turkey for example). Make sure it's German made!

PigletJohn · 18/04/2013 16:21

do you have some reason to believe the design, parts or quality control are different?

napkin · 18/04/2013 16:26

I don't know if the Bosch one i'm looking at is German!! Really stuck between a Bosch,Lg,Aeg or Hotpoint. Anyone bought any of the newer models and what models of Bosch are made in Germany please? I need to be able to do small washes apart from using the 15min cycle on the Bosch. I heard if you do small washes on the Lg it goes out of balance and don't spin is that true? Please help me decide, it's like a minefield! Confused

John - I was told so by the shop where I bought my (German made) Bosch. They also sold Turkish manufactured ones (which were ever so slightly cheaper)

napkin · 18/04/2013 17:08

What model is you Bosch machine ItsYonliMe ?

I was told quite categorically by a washing machine engineer to avoid non German Bosch as they use inferior quality parts & they break down but not a huge amount cheaper

napkin · 18/04/2013 18:45

What model is yours themidwife?

I've got a Hoover (chosen by my dh). It's rubbish. I used to have an integrated Beko and it was brill.

napkin · 19/04/2013 14:01

I hate Hoover!

I find it very difficultto believe that Bosch are turning out substandard appliances from any of their factories. Looking at the Which reliability reports, the BSH brands (mosrly Bosch, Siemens and Neff) are all up in the 94%/95%/96% range, fluctuating a bit from year to year, probably just statistical differences.

If they were turning out bad machines, how could they be at the top of the reliability tables?

I still think this is just a rumour.

VW makes cars outside Germany with a Skoda badge on them; the Mlada Boleslav ones are just as good as the Ingolstadt ones.

DewDr0p · 20/04/2013 15:10

Another vote for Bosch. Mine is still going strong after 13 years (touch wood!) and I think the cleaning is excellent.

My tumble dryer is AEG and also good BUT the repair man told me they are more expensive to repair.

UterusUterusGhali · 20/04/2013 20:39

I went and bought a zanussi after reading this thread this morning! The place I went to only had a basic Bosch.

You can tell if it's german by looking at the side panel. If the indent is top-bottom, in parallel vertical lines, it's NOT german. If the indent is wiggly, it is. (I asked :) )

napkin · 21/04/2013 18:59

Thanks for leeting me know what ones are German machines Wink

I have a 12 year old Bosch classix still going strong. We use it everyday if not 3 times a day! 5 of us in house.

popcornpaws · 24/04/2013 11:41

zanussi every time! i've had two in 23years, fantastic machines, used everyday, three times on bed washing day. I wouldn't consider any other make.

morph7xx · 16/03/2017 22:24

Used to think Bosch was a good make, but a dishwasher, fridge and washing machine all proved me wrong. No better than average. Currently have a Zanussi washing machine ,,, and I'm impressed.
