Getting a musty smell out of a chest?

Just bought a second-hand chest of drawers, but it smells very musty and damp inside the drawers. Apart from airing them, is there anything else I can do to get rid of the smell?

You could try washing it down and drying well, then leaving with an open tub/ramekin whatever of bicarb?

I'd sprinkle them with bicarb and kind of brush it well in to the drawers if you can.

What about shake and vac - which is more or less bicarb and perfume. Tthat or cat litter.

Super, thank you - I've cleaned it well with a slightly damp cloth and could only think about leaving it out in the garden to air on a sunny day, but thanks for the bicarb/cat litter idea, I'll try it!
