Can I get mould stains out of a swimming costume?

DD's little swimming costume has been discovered at the bottom of a bag from swimming and has mould stains despite going through a normal 40 wash. Is there anything else I can try to remove or is it for the bin?

Try soaking it in well-diluted bleach for ages, even overnight.

This worked a treat on mouldy dolls clothes - I thought it would take out the colour but it didn't

Have you tried oxi action?

Cherrypie32 · 12/03/2013 10:47

No haven't tried anything else yet. Do you mean Vanish? Will try the bleach option first then. Thank you!

Tbh I think you could end up spending more on trying to get it out than buying a new costume. Unless it was really expensive or particularly special I think I would just ditch it.

Mould is notoriously difficuly to get out and the spores are a health concern.

HG mould remover spray worked amazingly on my bathroom grouting when nothing, and I mean nothing else worked! It was honestly like magic. Not sure of the effect on a bathing costume though!

EdwiniasRevenge · 12/03/2013 12:34

The vast majority of mould removers contain bleach...and even then it doesn't get rid of it it bleaches the spores and if you are lucky stops it growing.

Be careful to check what any commercial cleaners contain as bleach will more than likely ruin the costume

You could be right re cost of removing, it is a little Boden one (sale though) - worth a try with bleach option - not the end of the world anywayGrin
