How to keep on top of house when you have a baby...your tips

Hello all,

My dd is 16wks - though she is an easy baby she will only nap on me (trying all sorts) and isn't settling too well before 11/12 at the mo with teething. Sooo the place is a mess. When I was pregnant I did the nesting thing and kind of liked it all tidy. I think it's also a control thing especially being first baby an all. So what are your tips for shortcuts that help?

I leave the dishes to soak with a little Milton as well as washing up liquid -by the time I get round to emptying the sink they're pretty clean.

How do I keep on top of everything?? Or should I give in Grin Is it sad to even be trying? I just function that bit better when it's not chaos.

TIA x

What about a sling?

That's what I've had to resort to sometimes

I just scaled back on what I expected myself to get to. At this age they aren't making a mess as they go (DD is 16mo soon and believe me, they can be mini hurricanes) so you can try to contain mess to a couple of rooms. I used my dishwasher a lot. Keep wipes in every room - they clean up EVERYTHING! I now use them for bathroom floor while DD has her evening bath Grin
Do things when she naps if you aren't napping yourself.
DD hated the hoover but quite likes it now and tries to ride it so I gave up being so fastidious with it and did one room a day for a bit.
