How do I clean between the 2 sheets of glass in my oven door

I can't seem to work out how to remove the inner piece of glass for cleaning. We inherited this built in oven when we moved in so I don't have instructions its an IGNIS. At our last home the inner piece of glass slid out easily for cleaning but this seems to be sealed in yet drips and grease have managed to get between the 2 pieces......does anyone know how to get the glass out without breaking the door!

Well don't do what I did and spray white opaque cleaning stuff down the gap. I'm now stuck with an oven door that looks like a pigeon flew over and dropped one Angry

oh no...I won't try that then!

You might be able to unscrew it.

5madthings · 24/11/2012 20:49

mine has screws and you can just take it off. have you googled?

you could do what i did - call the nice oven cleaning man to come and do it for me.

unfortunately soon afterwards it needed doing again and i couldn't justify calling oven man again.

in the end i used a lakeland mini flatmate to get in between the glass, it worked surprisingly well. i used it dampened with some kitchen cleaning spray.

find the makers website. They usually have downloadable instructions.

The inner one on mine slides out. Any chance yours is the same?

takeonboard · 25/11/2012 14:22

thanks all! It doesn't slide out unfortunately, I can't find where to unscrew it and can't find instruction online to dowload either!

The lakeland thing sounds about the only option....

Nah... nice oven cleaning man sounds a better option Grin

Was that "oven u" or something similar to that? A friend used one of their people and said it was brilliant.

DO NOT UNSCREW THE OVEN DOOR. I did just that, we ended up having to reglue the door back on.

Just been to look at my 40 year-old Creda, as gave up and try not to look anymore, and just seen a thing in the middle of the 2 panes that looks as if it is meant to lift out. But I tried and is well and truly stuck.

Actually, think the whole door needs replacing!!
