How do I create one of those luxurious beds with throws and cushions, etc like they have in posh hotels?

Want it to look fabulous when I walk in the bedroom (even a little romantic) but don't know where to start - what colours should I choose? where do I buy from (without spending a fortune)? how do I get it all to work?!

What colours are in your bedroom already?

Cream walls. Furniture is painted a sage green. Otherwise no colour really. At the moment I use white duvet covers.

ccushions and throws and no laundry, I always have quite dark colours in the bedroom I find it more relaxing and romantic feeling. I mix and match patterns a lot, currently have 2 cream velvet cushions and a red satin cushion that I arrange n the bed, bedding is cinzy patterned and walls are kind of dark mauve colur. Curtains are dark brown and lamp shade is burgundy so a proper mish mash but all from the same palate iyswim. the less stuff in there the nicer it will look but that is really hard.

Buy a couple of interiors magazines, like Ideal Home, and cut out the pics of the beds you like. Then goto shops and see if you can match them. Like Dunelm, supermarkets, Laura Ashley, etc depending on budget.

TK Maxx is great for hotel chic bedding.

My top tip is to buy everything from the same shop. That way, it is easiest to mix and match and find co-ordinating anf conmtrating things that go together, as the ranges usually co-ordinate.

BHS, M&S, Laura Ashley etc all do these types of ranges in their bedding.

I am a massive fan of bedding and I love the hotel chic kind of thing. Have plump pillows - two each side of the bed. I have the Venetia bedding range from Laura Ashley in champagne. It is a damask, and washes really well. I also have a really luxurious Laura Ashley throw that comes between 1/3 and 1/2 way up the bed. It has a lovely textured it like a mink colour. And a small cushion which is a plain mink silk.

I think they key to a layered look is texture.

Dunelm and TKMaxx have bedding bargains on a smaller budget.

I agree, buy everything from the same shop, as it is easier to mix and match. Also, many places do complete sets which include matching curtains, throws, cushion covers etc, making it really easy. Try www.homespacedirect.com they have some gorgeous bedding with matching accessories, at a really reasonable price!

Zara home has some lovely things.. I often have just a white bed set but add a patterned sheet, matching pillow cases and a few cushions. I got some lovely stuff in their sale lat year so maybe wait till the new year.

I love The White Company bedlinen. Invest in an expensive duvet, I like goose down and good pillows that will keep their shape. I splash out on bedlinen, the more expensive the cotton and the higher the thread count, the better it feels to sleep in. I have a Laura Ashley bedspread that folds along the bottom third of the bed and adds an accent of colour. I also have beautiful Laura Ashley bedlamps that complete the look. Keep it simple but fresh and with bedlinen buy the best you can afford.

Try ironing a White Company duvet. Or perhaps they think people who buy them have staff to do the ironing

Lol anniewoo. They are murder to iron (so my cleaning lady tells me anyway )

Send them to the laundry, £2.32 for an emperor size sheet, 1000 count cotton, I can't get more than one in my machine and as for ironing i, it takes hours!

I haven't ironed a duvet cover in years. My tumble does all that and I fold it while still warm. Creases fall out after a day.
