disappointed with new duck down duvet...is it me or the duvet?

After years of synthetic duvets, I bought a duck down duvet as I thought natural and therefore better.

But I'm finding it not very warm but makes me sweat a huge amount. I wake during the night chilly but damp from me being so sweaty.

DH thinks its fine, and snores away happily all night long.

Maybe its me but at 43 thought I might be to young for night sweats?

Anyone else found this?

ours was sweaty to start off with, but somehow settled down a couple of weeks later. no idea why that should be...

I've had night sweats since I was 43! Probably not what you wanted to hear. I have to wear PJs to stop the sweat seeping into our lovely down duvet Grin

I hate ours! It's warm, but I just sweat all night under it, and it's noisy, but my husband loves it and he just blames the sweating on my hormones...!

I am nearly 42 and have never had any problem with ours, although I think ours might be goose.

We just invested in a goose down duvet and I love it! I have had down duvets for a while now and definately prefer them to synthetic ones! Never made me hot though!

I bought a fab goose down duvet after staying in a hotel with one. I loved it very much but it had to go as it triggered my asthma. I found it warm and heavy but not sweaty.

Another sweaty night, sheet & pj's soaking.

Going away for a few days over 1/2 term to a hotel so will test if its me or the duvet.

Hi Eve

As someone who has used goose down for a while, I can confidently state that down duvets should not make you sweat even in warmer weather. That is one of the main benefits of natural down, that it retains warmth but is amazingly breathable.

A few things to look out for, is the casing 100% cotton? because if its polyester that might explain sweating as its not breathable fabric.

You must be careful where you buy these products, if its too cheap it probably is not genuine. These products should be the absolute luxury and make you excited to go to sleep. Smile
