What is a mild detergent?

I've been reading a bit about saving money on cleaning products recently and keep seeing something along the lines of, "clean using a solution of water and mild detergent."

Is this literally warm water with a small squirt of dish washing liquid? Or are some detergents milder than others?

You've made me think now op, I've always assumed Fairy Liquid was mild detergent and use it for nearly everything. (Because one bottle really does last about ten times longer than ownbrand).

WUL is intended for putting your hands in, so does not take all the grease out as effectively as a GP cleaner. If you have soft or softened water, WUL will clean almost everything around the house, but leaves a film on glass.

I reckon Flash or similar would be a better household cleaner, and you'll need less, but must wear rubber gloves.

Hand soap or "beauty soap" is also superfatted to remoisturise your skin after washing the greasy dirt off, which is a bit odd. Household soaps (still available with difficulty) that people used to scrub their doorsteps with don't, so are better cleaners.
