Help! What gets the smell of lager out of fabric?

My stupid DH spilt lager last night on the sofa.

I've tried the foam cleaner that came with the sofa. Apparently if I put them in the wash they will disintegrate. It's something to do with the fire retardant treatment . Trouble is I daren't try it.

Any ideas?

Bicarb sprinkled on and held in place for a few hours with an absorbent cloth like a colourfast towel. Should absorb the smell!
