Well I am never going to be neat and clutter free but things have gone too far. I am here for shoulders to cry on and to vent if you don't mind. To declutter I enter realms of self loathing. I am revolting!! God the things I find as I delve into murky piles of stuff. It will have to be little and often or I will implode. Also have toddler to entertain though one back to school Wednesday.
As well as decluttering need to sort proper storage- empty airing cupboard [feel faint at thought] and when space purchase cheap [and narrow] chests of draws. Our house is small and bursting at seams. [Dh will hopefully not notice as his piles of crap shrink as squirrelled to BIN].
Please be there for me.....

Have you thought about joining the fly threads? They seem to be advocates of little and often.

SunflowersSmile · 03/09/2012 16:49

I shall look- thanks. Think maybe too far gone...

I like little and often, if you take on too much it can be too overbearing. This morning I took on one of the kitchen cupboards once I'd cleaned the dishes, and this afternoon I sorted out the bottles of god knows how old shampoo and cleaning products in the bathroom. I appear to have half-filled the recycling bin in one day, however Hmm

You can do it :o

One thing I find useful is to use three sep containers when I declutter - bin / free cycle or sell / to be put elsewhere. Do 15 - 30 min bursts be ruthless. Allow 5 mins of that time to put things back in to the proper place / room that they should be in. At first you may feel like you are getting nowhere or even crating more mess but by the end of a week of 2 sessions a day you will see a difference. Another key thing is to get the stuff you don't want out of the house - plan at least two tip/ charity shop visits per week to keep on top of things as you go. Wink
