Foul smelling shower "hole" (not sure of correct name;)

Hi I recently had a problem with a v slow draining shower which I eventually had to get a man in to sort out as caustic powder didn't work. So he used a suction pump and it's all been working fine again apart from a horrific smell!!! Lots of bleach and more caustic powder hasn't helped, at the minute I have had to put a folded towel over the hole. Apparently it's an enclosed system so I can't get to any of the pipes.

Pls help, what can I use to get rid of this stink??!!

shower traps are supposed to be accessible for cleaning through above, by lifting a cage out of the plughole.

You can buy as drain pump yourself, they're better than sink plungers. Observe what comes out. It might have been badly plumbed leading to unpleasant materials, in which case it will need to be replumbed properly. People who have their pipes and floors tiled over or fancy flooring fixed often regret it. Did he gets lots of hair out? Does it smell of poo or drains, or just soap?

You haven't got a shredding toilet have you?

I cleaned my shower trap today. I got tons of hair out and it reeked of rotten egg Envy
You can't pull the trap out from the plug hole?

My kitchen sink has this awful eggy pungent smell, has been like it since we moved in.

Have tried everything from caustic soda to me muscle, stuff from 99p shop. Works for a few hours then comes back.

Any ideas?

Sorry for the hijack OP Blush

clean the overflow.

Thanks for the replies!! I'm not sure what a shredding toilet is ?? Again I'm not sure what an overflow is?? It's basically a hole in a shower tray with no access to anything or nothing to pull out and clean. The only thing that came out was a flexible silicone white tube and a sucker (that u would attach at soap saver with to the tiles) neither I've ever lost down the plug hole! The smell is more mouldy than poo smelling.

Shredding toilet, like a saniflow boak boak boak.

Overflow was for the sink lady

Mouldy smell is more often a leak but I suppose there might still be rotting hair.

If you end up having the pipe run exposed for inspection and repair or re-routing, be sure to get a modern trap that can be cleaned from above, and that the plumber leaves the instructions so you can laminate them and stick to the bathroom wall.

In the meantime buy a sink drain pump, its better than a plunger.
