I have a 5 yo Hotpoint condenser dryer which has been a bit of a 'mare since we bought it (door catch replaced 4+ times, the belt and wheel had to be replaced -DH did it so only a few £).

But it is really noisy and I wouldn't imagine very energy efficient. It lives in the garage where it can be as noisy as it likes, but it means I have to trot down the garden.
So, I want to replace it before winter.
I've got a Bosch WM, so would a Bosch TD be a good buy? I need a big drum but not so bothered about different cycles IYSWIM (warm/hot would be fine)

I can't justify Miele prices.
Has anyone got a John Lewis own brand? Can you recommend them?

Vacuum cleaner- I had an Oreck but it needed a roller replaced and even after, the pick up isn't good and it smells of burning (like a lighted match, not rubber <img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Confused" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/confused-DVrVQwAF.png"> )
I want an upright ,but I don't need all the tools and extras (I've got a handheld Oreck for the stairs). 3 bedrooms+hall +stairs are carpeted.

Small enough to tuck away in the hall.

Yes I chose the JL own brand for my classroom in school and I use it twice a day every day.
V v good and would recommend it highly.

I would get the cheaper miele Hoover - They all v good! Think £149? Will check that though.

Re tumble dryer, I recently bought this one for £259. I like it, it's bigger than my old 5kg one and is quite quiet. My neighbour has one the same, it's about 2 years old and running without problems.

(PS, if you buy it, the water reservoir is right at floor level, do not confuse it with the condensor unit like I did , and curse that the "reservoir full light" is faulty Blush)

Bosch are good for both, and not as expensive as Miele.

The last seven or eight times someone asked, I looked up some "Which" best buys, I'm sure you will find them if you do a seach.

I have JK own brand condenser dryer which is fine, works well, easy to access and empty reservoir etc and is A rated. We have had it for 9 months, on the recommendation of DH's aunt who has had hers for many years (she says at least 10), and swears by JL own brand white goods.
