Silverfish in shower room - any advice on how to purge/deter

We have tiny silverfish in our shower room, they seem to come and go but of late, I've been killing a lot. However, saw one tonight but it had a teeny tiny baby silver fish with it and soft touch that I am, I couldn't kill either...I know they like damp areas but it's a frigging shower room, it is damp by nature!
Any ideas on how to get rid of them welcome or do I live along side them (including the baby ones)? Are they dangerous or bad for health? We have a DD 2 who uses the shower too.

Silverfish are harmless and interesting little creatures, unchanged for squillions of years. Don't kill them, co-exist and feel good that you're happily sharing the world with something which was around long long before humans.

That's lovely outmonday but guests really don't like it. It would be nice to encourage my silverfish to go elsewhere.

Get an earwig in to eat the silverfish.

Get a bird in to eat the earwig.

Get a cat to eat the bird.

Get a dog to eat the cat...

You see where this is going?!

On a more serious note, this site has good advice.

Get neighbours who keep reptiles to accidentally release crickets (food for reps) into yours and others' flats, and a landlord who overreacts and fumigates it. No more silverfish. Worked for me! :)

Flea spray!

Thank you all for your posts, the website was very useful and I think we will need to explore if there is a leak in the shower area which might be encouraging them...that said, haven't seen one for days now so perhaps we only have a few and tbh, I could live with that - along with the trillion spiders and other randoms that come up from the cellar

I don't live a gothic mansion btw, just a 1930s house Wink

Open windows, get a dehumidifier. Mop up after people have used the shower and don't leave damp towels or bath mats in the room.

They really don't like cloves. So if you dab oil of cloves around the room, they tend to bugger off.
