Miele or Sebo vacuum cleaner?

Destrier · 04/06/2012 18:06

Which would be best? Are they worth the cost. I have heard that the Sebo is not a proper Hepa filter... have you heard this?

I have a cheapish cleaner, but my carpets are just not getting clean enough...

Thanks!

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. After weeks of trawling the Talk boards, talking to parents and researching bestsellers, here are our trusted vacuum cleaner reviews to help you find the best vacuum cleaner on the market.

Hope this helps! Flowers

£163 on Amazon too.

Does the SEBO have crevice tools and a hose?

MissFoodie · 07/06/2012 15:34

sebo does yes, but no point, might as well get the cylinder one with a long hose instead, their K1 pet seems to have same spec as miele

VivaLeBeaver · 07/06/2012 15:37

I love my Sebo cylindar vacuum. Its lightweight, good suction, the flex is so long I can do the whole house from the kitchen socket.

MissFoodie · 07/06/2012 15:40

which model is it pls?

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 15:47

MIele flex is super long too Wink

VivaLeBeaver · 07/06/2012 15:56

Mine is the sebo d2

MissFoodie · 07/06/2012 16:03

hmmmmmmmmm ok so now between
Miele S5211
and
Sebo D2

both seem to have same spec...........?

VivaLeBeaver · 07/06/2012 16:06

Something swung it for me for the Sebo over the Miele and can't rememebr what it was. Have a feeling it was to do with the bags, either the size of them or the price????

NanTheWiser · 07/06/2012 17:53

The dust bags for the Sebo X4Extra will take 5.3 litres, and will fill right to the top - they last ages. Bags are constructed from 3-layer specially treated paper which trap 99.7% of dust particles down to 0.3 microns (if my memory is correct!) and are as effective if not more, than Hepa filters.

VivaLeBeaver · 07/06/2012 18:00

That was it. Currys website says the Sebo bags are 6ltrs and the Miele ones are 4.5ltrs. I figured I wouldn't have to change the bags as often.

Destrier · 07/06/2012 18:05

Won it on bag saze and (overall) Warranty (motor+parts etc). Miele had longer motor, but shorter parts warranty...

And nice head thing for stairs (got the pet one)

I mean, the Sebo won on bag size etc.

I think people love one or the other... Hope I like the Sebo! Also Sebo do more upright ones, if I wanted a cylindar, I might have gone for Miele.

We have a golden. The miele does a great job but we have wooden floors with rugs on the first two floors and carpet on the top floor. The dog is NOT allowed on the top floor! The Miele does a great job. We have the Calipso model which has a power head for the rugs. I also bought a small power head for doing the stairs and the car.

We bought the Miele from a vacuum shop and the Sebo was an option. The owner, who is well respected, said the Sebo was better for a home with more carpets and less levels than we have.

MissFoodie · 07/06/2012 19:46

destier which sebo did you get on amazon?

Destrier · 07/06/2012 20:29

I got the X4 Pet. I toyed with the X4 extra/ X4 as we don't have pets... But I have long hair (which had been a trouble with other machines not picking up) and it can also deal with pet hairs from visiting (family) pets. Also, we might get a pet in a couple of years and I don't want to regret not having bought one when we had the chance (i'm hoping the machine will last a good few years).

We have lots of carpets in the house - I have lived with both wooden floors and with carpets, and while I prefer carpets, I didn't realise the amount of dirt children add to carpets - I might have avoided otherwise!! I want something to keep them as clean as can be.

Fingers crossed!

I'm sure you won't be disappointed, Destrier! Sebo have a reputation for being long lived too. I got mine from Amazon - arrived very quickly, and they were the cheapest.

any thoughts on the MIELE S5 deep clean 2200 w????

deebelle · 25/02/2013 17:10

Miele is a little bit expensive than sebo. However, it works well than Sebo. I'd rather opt Miele than having Sebo that does not fit my carpet. I think Sebo is great also, it depends on the carpet that you have. :)

Another vote for Sebo here, DM has had hers for years and loves it.

butemum · 02/05/2013 22:17

Living on a rural island meant getting spares by post only and for the money we had a second hand Miele vac that my sister gave us. However, whilst it was very quiet and well made, it was difficult to get the paper bags and we nearly went for another Miele after the company started up a shop online with the newer synthetic dust bags. However, I had a demo of a SEBO K1 Komfort at John Lewis - for the price at the time and for the fact that it still comes with three main size floor heads you can swap over, my 5 year old Sebo still works as good as the day we bought it -= the bags are also far cheaper than Miele - you get 7 bags for the same size and price of Miele's FJM 4 in a box!! The Hospital grade filter is better than HEPA and it doesn't leave a horrible charcoal black on your fingers. Also the Hospital grade filter and the standard ones that SEBO sell seem to last a lot longer than Miele's "yearly change" AAC and far more costlier. The winning card with the SEBO isn't just the lightweightness or longer lasting dust bags- the hose is far longer than Miele and thus only really cleaning using the hose alone with the machine far away. It isn't good looking but I didn't buy it for that!

Mike222 · 18/07/2015 12:14

Don"t touch SEBO. Their "5 year guarantee" means nothing. After 18 months my two labradors (hair) have caused the vacuum to catch fire and SEBO refuse to honour their guarantee. I am back to my 40 year old Hoover!
SEBO = Crap.

rabbit123 · 18/07/2015 15:48

Mike222, I disagree. We've got both a Sebo and a Miele. The Sebo is 20 years old now and never missed a beat. It's also better on carpet than the Miele, but the Miele is better for cleaning sofa's, stairs, the car and for doing curtains etc.

Whilst it was working, were you happy with it?

Also, did Sebo say why they wouldn't repair it?

Mike222 · 23/07/2015 13:09

My 18 month old SEBO went up in flames. SEBO refuse to honour their guarantee.

AVOID SEBO = CRAP>
