Miele or Sebo vacuum cleaner?

Destrier · 04/06/2012 18:06

Which would be best? Are they worth the cost. I have heard that the Sebo is not a proper Hepa filter... have you heard this?

I have a cheapish cleaner, but my carpets are just not getting clean enough...

Thanks!

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. After weeks of trawling the Talk boards, talking to parents and researching bestsellers, here are our trusted vacuum cleaner reviews to help you find the best vacuum cleaner on the market.

Hope this helps! Flowers

Yes you want the Sebo X4 or the X4 pet, only difference I believe is an extra tool on the pet one.

Cheapest on Amazon at the mo.

I have had the Panasonic 1900 watt, which was good but the Sebo even though it is 1300 watt is more powerful, picks up better, you can see it in the pile and you can feel it.

For under £100 the Panasonic is the best bagged you can get, but the Sebo really is a different class altogether. Love mine!

BlackCatsAndPurpleDogs · 06/06/2012 12:28

Miss foodie, the Sebo is the only vac I have had which removes one of my cats hairs. They are white and stick to anything black. I know what you mean about the candy floss hair, its awful stuff.

MissFoodie · 06/06/2012 14:24

thanks blackcats which sebo do you have?
the hair is esp bad at the moment with moulting....I live surrounded by furballs...they stick to everything!

BlackCatsAndPurpleDogs · 06/06/2012 17:13

I have this one

Could not believe it deals with all hair!

NanTheWiser · 06/06/2012 17:43

Same as mine, BlackCats, It's lovely!

alibubbles · 06/06/2012 18:01

Can I join the club? That's the one I have too!

This is my Miele - www.miele.co.uk/accessories/Details.aspx?rdid=16&aid=722

DD is allergic to cats and we have 4!

BeingFluffy · 06/06/2012 18:23

Unashamed plug for Miele I'm afraid. First one lasted about 15 years and on my second. Reliable, good at picking up human and pet hair and everything else. Would never go back to an upright. Only criticism of Miele is that the bags are quite expensive but worth it, not having to fiddle about fixing the blocked vacumn cleaner or going over stuff twice.

BlackCatsAndPurpleDogs · 06/06/2012 22:10

NanTheWiser and alibubbles seems we all know a good vac when we see one :)

MissFoodie · 06/06/2012 23:10

beingfluffy which Miele do you have?

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 15:07

Miele every time.

MissFoodie · 07/06/2012 15:14

god, this is a nightmare, everyone says something different..........
will go to john lewis and see what they have.....maybe test a few

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 15:16

Miele lasts and last and lasts - we have had the one upstairs for 10 years and still going strong.

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 15:17

Noone ever says anything bad once they have a Miele product as they are SO good. Does that help? Grin

MissFoodie · 07/06/2012 15:18

heheh ok yes - I just dont know if I want to spend £200 on one, do the lesser spec ones suck as well? (excuse pun)

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 15:19

I don't think we paid that for ours - why don't you get it from Argos then if it is crap just take it back. I took back a Panasonic upright that was 6 months old - they gave me vouchers.

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 15:20

Even the cheapest Miele is better than anything else on the market ime.

MissFoodie · 07/06/2012 15:21

what about this one? Miele S5211

MissFoodie · 07/06/2012 15:23

what I dont get is how a 1300 w can be more expensive than a 2200 w?
and surely the higher the wattage, the better suction????

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 15:24

Not necessarily - the motor is better.

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 15:25

I have that onemissfoodie - tis fabulous - £163 on ebay atm, I have just googled!

MissFoodie · 07/06/2012 15:26

its on offer in currys...
does it really suck up animal hair????

also, anyone tried the henry? people rave about it but doesn't have a high wattage???

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 15:28

Henry is non comparable to a Miele.

Yes of course it sucks up pet hair -they are marvellous! I would never get any other hoover EVER. Mind you all our white goods are Miele as well as they last so long anad are so reliable.

Pancakeflipper · 07/06/2012 15:28

I love my Sebo. Had it 7 yrs. It has a cat to clean up after and messy young kids.

It recently survived our 6 months of house extension mess where it was used several times a day for big dusty messes. Though I thought it had lost it when it started behaving oddly at the end of the big messy extension but stripped it down and gave it some TLC and found some twine tangled around it's roller thingy. And now it is happy again.

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 15:28

and

MissFoodie · 07/06/2012 15:32

ok, sebo does look good but i dont want a standup one, dont have enough floorspace, plus lots of nooks and crannies....

miele seems to be getting more votes at the mo....!
