Is there such a thing as a hand held vacuum that picks up pet hair and doesnt go flat in 30 seconds?

We had a dyson upright once, it wasnt very good.

I take it the hand held one is better then?

Yes, but expensive.

Dyson animal. Bloody brilliant. Do the stairs with it too.

Another brilliant method for getting pet hair off stairs/ upholstery is using rubber gloves. Use a dry pair, and vigorously stroke the carpet/ fabric and you will be stunned at the amount of hair that comes out. It sort of rolls itself into handy clumps so you can just bin it, then run the Hoover over at the end. Magic.

I do my stairs every now s d again for a deep clean otherwise Hoover in between. It's actually quite sad satisfying to do.

sleepyfergus I can't believe how excited I am by that tip. I am actually planning to cut short my bath to be able to try it sooner.

Northey Smile I know, it's incredibly sad but 'tis good. I think I saw it on Kim & Aggie years ago and poo pooed it until I tried it.

Northey · 20/05/2012 14:01

I wore a hole in my rubber glove!

But my stairs look fab.

I tried several of the cordless ones and they were all rubbish. Not enough suction. I have got a dirt devil plug in one and it is brilliant, much more powerful than any of the cordless ones, recommended, although of course you do have to plug it in.
