We had a chat and they both want to make a den. Grin

Bagsy a chair quick Cats. That is your island out in the sea and there are sharks all around you so they can only get to you for cuddles by making stepping stones with cushions Grin

Camper you asked what I cooked.

I found a few rather old looking potatoes so I scrubbed them (you see zoo I am a scrubber) and microwaved them then cut them into wedges and roasted them in some spray and a little salt.

I also found some eggs and the end of a bag of frozen sweetcorn so I made an omlette and we had sweetcorn on the side.

We would normally have more veg than that in a meal but that was what I had.

It is awful when you get to the end of the food and money at the same time. I had to wait for money to clear over the long weekend although I think I could access it yesterday.

My dd is going to spend a week with her Granny during the hols. She has a great time but always comes back really podgy as they do absolutely nothing and Granny gives her family sized bags of sweets. Shock I am hoping that this time she will have sense not to eat them all even if Granny gives her them.

Oh I know she'll come back thoroughly spoilt rotten! Nana has already pretty much bought her a holiday wardrobe that she's brought over and I know there'll be more stuff when they come to get her. She'll come home with loads of tat loveingly bought stuff to clutter my house with to hold precious memories too! Grin
Thanks Carrots it's always good to know what other peoples standbyes are food-wise. What times/temp did you do the wedges on? I try and make chips but they always come out grotty!

Scout19075 · 07/06/2012 15:25

Say what you may about the NHS but the doctor we saw this morning has just rung to ask after Toddler. I've never had that before, even when TS was BabyScout and I'd take him to the duty doctor.

liveinazoo · 07/06/2012 15:36

wow scout im Shock
ive never had that kind of service for any of my dcs!!!

i always keep bags frozen veg and an emergency bag lentils for pick n mix meals

the blackeye bean and mushroom stew was lush the other day, even more so as i had beans and rice lurking so just neede some mushrooms which were on teh reduced section of morrisons

weve just watched cloudy with a chance of meatballs dvd

Scout19075 · 07/06/2012 16:11

We're watching some program that is featuring The Proms. Toddler is enthralled. He loves The Proms.

However, how is it possible that even in his poorliness he looks taller? He's standing taller. And suddenly he can not only flip a light switch one way but he can do it in both directions.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 07/06/2012 16:18

The den is built in the dining room but both DC are now in the living room watching telly. Hmm I should say DS is watching telly and DD has sprawled herself across his lap which is quite cute. I am wondering if she wants a nap.

I still feel CBA! The weather is horrible here today, very grey and wet!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 07/06/2012 16:51

feeling bored out of my head!!! Lots of housework jobs need doing but I have spent the day trying to keep the DC out of mischief! DH should be home soon.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 07/06/2012 17:04

Sorry me again! I just need to moan! DD won't leave me alone all day. Sad She wants to go Everywhere I go. I go to the toilet "can I come?" I want a shower, she has to come in bathroom. I try to MNet and she sits on my lap.

I JUST WANT SOME ALONE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sad

DH is home now so hopefully she can follow him around for a bit!!!!!! Wink

carrotsandcelery · 07/06/2012 17:57

Did you see my thread about being loved Cats? I went to the loo and ds, Twilight and Dh followed me Shock Sometimes it all gets a bit too much.

Can you link it carrots?

It's been a hard day and I feel quite ill now. Sad At least I have DH home for the next few days.

carrotsandcelery · 07/06/2012 22:40

It can be unbelievably draining coping with bored dcs, especially when you are bored yourself too.

We will have to come up with a long list of possibilities for the summer holidays. I feel a lot of picnics coming on...

And all that cleaning and it is all over by 10.30. It is the same whoever hosts but it is still such a shame.

4:30/4:45 is a stupid time, really. I put Toddler back once but then couldn't face it so he stayed in bed cuddled with me. He didn't go to sleep but laid nicely/quietly until about 5:45 then climbed over MrScout to get to his phone and sat watching Peppa Pig for 20 minutes. TS has just had 1 1/2 bowls of cereal and two cups of milk so I think he's feeling a bit better. I see a midmorning nap for all.

I've just read on FB two school friends announcing their (second) pregnancies. Add these to friends here having their first babies I know of a baby a month starting in October. Shock I'm not that young! (Though, to be fair, the two here having their firsts are several years younger than me.)

Scout19075 · 08/06/2012 08:38

Toddler's desperate to go outside and play. It's raining cats and dogs and blowing small people over. I don't really want to go out.

He's definitely feeling better given the amount of breakfast he ate.

liveinazoo · 08/06/2012 10:34

Hello, we've been at our local children's centre this morning, just watching the DDs scoff the last of the falafel, olives & avocado for lunch

RE holiday ideas for kids, I keep seeing loads of stuff on Pinterest (look at my kids board), I'm also "friends" with nurturestore on fb who post a new activity every day.

Scout19075 · 08/06/2012 13:28

Toddler's having a lovely long, much needed nap. He protested going up the stairs but once he was tucked in, having stories and cuddles, he was very happy and quickly out.

MrScout's off on a commission soon. He's doing the photos for a friend's son's wedding this afternoon. It's a small, family-only service at the registry office. We (TS & I) were going to go to the town where it is to go to the shops (quaint market town) but I'm not taking Toddler out in public until tomorrow. So we'll stay home and play with trains and do more coloring instead.

TS has made another mobile this morning (well, he did the coloring and I've done the cutting). He's told me where he wants to hang it (the doorway between the kitchen & living room) so I'll put it up when he's awake so he can tell me where exactly he wants it. I finally have some string and clothespins (pegs) for his color line so I need to that put together.

I've also cut out all of the leaves and 24 of the 30 needed apples for his Apple Tree Family Tree. I still need to trace & cut out the remaining six apples and 30 stems. I've decided to put the relationship on the leaf (auntie/aunt, uncle, cousin) and the person's name under their picture on the red apple. I'm going to put a printed address label on the back with the person's full details (full name, birthday and death date). Before I put the pictures on I'm going to laminate the apples so the pictures are easier to take off/put on as cousins grow up, etc. I think I'm going to cut out some cartoony birds to sit in the tree for all of the "special people" -- people that aren't blood related but who are important in his life (his Godparents, etc). I've thought about doing some cartoon worms for pictures of his friends but think that might just be a step too far.

bessie26 · 08/06/2012 15:09

Incase anyone is interested, I've uploaded a pic of the planter DH made me onto my profile. We copied the idea from here. I'm hoping that being raised off the ground will protect the herbs & strawberries from slugs/snails & from the cats!

And here is a link to my Pinterest board of things to do with the kids I haven't actually done any of them yet, but am off now to see if we have enough vinegar to do the egg thing this weekend!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 09/06/2012 06:19

Morning all!

I have been ill Sad

I went to bed after my party and an hour later was in the bathroom ill. I must have passed out at one point as I woke up lying on the floor covered in vomit (sorry zoo) and it was in my hair and everything. I basically spent the rest of the night in the bathroom Sad and yesterday between the bathroom and my bed.

I have managed to get washed and dressed today but I am not managing a bowl of cereal. I had 3 mouthfuls and got stomach cramps again.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 09/06/2012 10:33

Hope you feel better soon carrots, I had wondered where you were yesterday.

Zoo I am also dreading the summer hols (6 weeks of kids at home). We will hopefully be away for 1 week though so that will give us a bit of a break.

We have decided to try and save up a small amount each time we get spare money.--rare occasion lately but there are things we want one day like a new sofa or a proper holiday. I know it will take us ages but we need to do something! Our first must do job will be get the car roadworthy again. needs new brakes--

Today I am trying to rescue the house from half term chaos!

carrotsandcelery · 09/06/2012 11:03

bessie the planter stand looks fab! Well done to Mr Bessie for his carpentry skills.

I am struggling a bit. Dh has had to go to work today because he stayed at home yesterday - he tried to work from home but we had a lot of power failures and the dcs needed ferried places after school etc so he didn't get enough done.

Dd is at the stables. Dh helped her make her lunch and a friend's dh has taken her up with her friend so at least I didn't have to deal with that.

Ds is bored though and I am not well enough to entertain him.

I have managed an ice pole so have got some fluid in but every time I try a mouthful of my now soggy cereal I get more stomach cramps. Sad

Scout the family tree sounds brilliant. I'd love to see a photo.
