what is the smallest washload you can do a hot wash on?

i have a bosch 8kg machine and i can only do the 90 degree wash on a full 8kg load. i use it for the dog's bedding, towels and mophead/floor rags (for spills) obviously i dont want to put my dog bedding or mopheads in with my towels so it means i never have a full load when i'm washing my dog bedding and mops but it annoys me that i can't set the machine to be more efficient. it takes two hours to wash 4 mopheads and the dog blanket. does anyone know if there is a way i can overrid the machine's programmes or do i just have to keeo doing it and resenting it?

That seems really odd - have you asked Bosch about it? Email their customer services and see what they say.

On my cheapie (gorenje) machine I can do a 90 degree wash empty - which I don occasionally to clean the machine.

I've never had a machine tell me it was not loaded enough or too much.

Do them on 60 - that is still very hot and they will come out sparkling.

i do use the 90 wash on the empty machine once a month but it still takes the 2 hours as if it's doing an 8kg load. it doesn't tell me there isn't enough clothes, i can still do the wash with less stuff in but it doesn't allow me to reduce the amount of the load so that it's using less water and energy IYSWIM. i will email them.

will 60 kill all the floor germs?

Booy - I have never washed my mop heads in the washing machine and we are all still alive and rarely ill. My vileda mop thingy gets a quick dunk in hot water once a week when the kitchen floor is cleaned. Don't worry about the floor germs unless you are literally going to start eating your dinner off the floor.

no i dont think we'll be doing that anytime soon. Grin 60 it is then!

My Bosch is the same, only got a 90 degree option on the long wash.

If you use antibacterial stuff in your mop bucket, isn't that enough to kill germs?

IAmBooyhoo · 13/05/2012 20:54

i never thought of that pew!

I use Napisan for mopheads and my work gloves. It works at lower temps, too.
