Musty smell coming from Kitchen sink - do I need to get a plumber in?

Every time I run the kitchen tap it creates a musty smell. I've tried sink unblockers which only seem to make it worse and now the whole house smells musty and horrible. Is this a drain problem and do I need to call a plumber in or is there there anything I can do myself? The smell is driving me mad!

Have you tried undoing the u bend to see if anything is stuck in it? This is easy to do, just make sure you wear rubber gloves if you have been putting evil corrosive chemicals down it. Also, does it go outside quickly (ie ground floor) if so put jeyes fluid down the outside drain:
