This happened once with my hob, i left mine for a day to dry out and its been fine since.

it is most likely water or damp that has got into an electrical part, usually the oven element when the insulation starts to break down after a few years, unless you actually had water sloshing about and running around in there.

As NK says it will usually dry out in a few days. If you have a fan oven and can turn the fan on with the heat right off, it will dry quicker. Leave the door open.

I am guessing that the thing that trips is the RCD and has a button on it marked "T" or "test" that you are supposed to press every three months.

Hobs are less prone to damp than ovens.

Thanks pigletjohn thats great advice.
Didnt have water sloshing round BUT i did notice that a thick wire ??Element?? at the back of the oven was disconnected when i wiped around it.
It looked like it should be attached to something....had a look with a torch and it liiks like the element has come away from its housing. Needs soldering i think.

Just trips (RCD) the whole downstairs when i try to put even the fan on, so gonna leave alone fr a while.
